For a Dear and Beautiful Friend

Summer is such a fun and busy time.  How can something be busy, and still be relaxing at the same time?  I can't quite explain it, but I really do love the Summer.  My biggest relief is that I have a short period of time off from homeschooling my son.  While "schooling" is a 24/7 - 365 day a year activity in many ways, the actual lesson plans are completed.  The kind of "schooling" we do in the Summer months is less stressful.  I know that Andrew is also grateful for the break.  Yet somehow, things are still busy.  And because I'm going on vacation this Friday, I got my crafting for my Design Team responsibilities done ahead of time.

This card I made for Word Art Wednesday was created for a dear and beautiful friend of mine.  Her name is Noni Dethmers, and she is a wonderful, strong, sweet woman of God.  She has raised (is raising) her six children for the Lord and is an inspiration to me in so many ways.  She and her family moved away from Las Vegas a few years ago, and I miss her terribly.  Her son, James, will be getting married in a week or so.  I made this card for her, and I already sent it to her.  It has the names of her six children, and even the name of her new daughter-in-law, tucked inside the pocket.  It turned out kinda cute.  I hope it will be a blessing to her.

I would like to invite you all to join us this week at Word Art Wednesday for another fun challenge.  We have a new scripture/word art file which is Isaiah 54:13 shown in my photo above.  You are not ever required to use the free word art files, but they are there for you to save to your comuter and enjoy.  You can enter our challenges with any uplifting or encouraging sentiment of your choice.  I hope you will stop by and link up the projects you've made this week.  We are trying to grow interest in our challenges and increase participation.  Stop by and play along - we would LOVE to have you.

I hope you're having a great week.  As I said yesterday, I will be a bit scarce for the next couple of weeks unless I have time to post the projects I make while in Minnesota at my BFFs house.  I still enjoy visiting the blogs of those who stop by here or play along at Word Art Wednesday so I hope to see YOU real soon.

Although my red pearls are a little hidden, I'm still entering this one at Creative Card Crew.  I just love their fun challenges as well.

  9. Wow, what an amazing card!! She is going to treasure this tribute to God's love and plan for her children!! I did't realize that you are a home educator. I home educated our 4 children for 19 years. This past school year was the first year I didn't home school. Our youngest entered high school as a junior. Our two middle daughters graduated from home school and our son, the oldest of our four children entered public school as a freshman, and is now a pastor. ~ Blessings

  14. Karen - What a beautiful card! I love the paper you used. It is so vintage, the colors are great! Thanks for the wonderful comment you left on my blog today. I check out Word Art every week but sort of forget about entering. Not sure why. Your verse really fit my card. I don't know who designs the word art but its great. That truly is one of my favorite verses. Thanks for becoming one of my followers. I'll be clicking on becoming one of yours too :) Have a very blessed day.
