I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

As many of you know, I grew up in Minnesota.  To be specific, I grew up in Duluth, Minnesota which is a beautiful city that sits along the shores of Lake Superior.  It's always been very dear to my heart; most especially since we moved away in 1989.  But for some reason, I seem to miss Duluth, and Minnesota in general, even more when Christmas approaches.  I miss the idea of having a "white Christmas", and while I was shopping the other day, I heard that very song come on the overhead speakers at the grocery store.  I found myself singing, "I'm Dreaming of  a White Christmas".....just like the ones I used to know.  We won't be returning to Duluth this year for Christmas, and I won't have a "white Christmas"......but, that's what I was thinking about today as I created this sweet little Christmas card.
I was inspired by several different challenges to make this card.  I used a piece of patterned paper that I've had forever, machine stitching, some Prima holly accents, Papertrey Ink star border die-cut and holly and berries die-cut, some Recollections snowflake stickers, red seam binding, bells, jute, a Paper Sweeties stamp for the sentiment, and a Melissa Frances candy cane.  I used a glittering technique shown on Nichole Heady's PTI Blog, and followed several other blog challenge guidelines as follows:

http://www.papersweeties.com/uncategorized/paper-sweeties-sketch-inspiration-2-challenge/ - Paper Sweeties Blog - Sketch #2 - I used a sweet stamp set called Pennant Party from Paper Sweeties for the sentiment on this card.

http://www.simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/12/simon-says-snowflakes.html - Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Simon Says Snowflakes - I used some Recollections snowflake stickers on my card.

http://craftyourpassionchallenges.blogspot.com/2012/12/challenge-139-snow.html - Craft Your Passion Challenges - Challenge #139 - Snow.  I used some snowflakes for this "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" card because I'm dreaming of snow this Christmas.  This challenge also requires the use of stamps (real or digital), and I did use three little sentiment stamps from Paper Sweeties for this card.

  11. Such a beautiful card. Love your colour scheme. We often have a white Christmas here in Northern Ireland, but I'm happy for the snow to stay away. It can make life very difficult on the farm! Hope you are having a great weekend. Maddy x

  13. Such a lovely card! I have those holly leaves in my stash and have been saving them for something special. Well, your card has inspired me to get those out and use them. My hubby's grandmother lived in Duluth. She was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse where she "swept her own floor and made her own fires". We are hoping for a bit of snow here in Indiana, for the holiday.
