Try Something New at TKJ

If you're anything like me, you might tend to stay in your "comfort zone" most of the time when crafting.  I don't often branch out and try new things, and I know this is something I really need to be aware of, and to fix.  With that said, I will tell you that this week's challenge at The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog was really  a good one for me.  The theme for this week is "Discover Something New", so I had to get creative.  Not only did I use some new products from the Kraft Outlet, but I also tried a new technique.

I thought about it for a while, and finally decided to use an old/repurposed household item to make something NEW for this challenge.  Believe it or not, this little Christmas gift holder was made using an empty toilet paper roll!  The first thing I did was to machine stitch the bottom of the toilet paper roll closed with a straight stitch, and then I covered the toilet paper roll with some Making Memories patterned papers, ribbons/trims, accents and stickers in addition to some awesome new Kraft Outlet goodies.  There's a sweet little Tim Holtz Adage Ticket (Wish) with a Tim Holtz Memo Pin through it.  Underneath the Santa sticker is an Oval Brown Kraft Label, and the three buttons are each tied with various colors (brown, green and red) Baker's Twine.  There's also some Recycled Kraft Tissue Paper stuffed inside the roll as an accent, but still leaves enough room to tuck a little treat inside.

I really hope that you'll stop by the Kraft Outlet and treat yourself to SOMETHING NEW this week, and then stop by to play along in our fun new challenge - DISCOVER SOMETHING NEW!  I know that I sure had fun with it.  In order to play along and be eligible for the prize, you simply need to use either product(s) from the Kraft Outlet, or any "kraft" products.  This could be kraft paper, a kraft paper grocery bag, kraft tags, etc., or even......you guessed it - a toilet paper roll!  We absolutely LOVE seeing what you create, and we'd just love to have you play along with us.  Your creative projects amaze us every week.

Hiding In My Craft Room - Challenge #119 - Super Scraps Saturday - Everything used on this project is from my Christmas bin which is NOTHING but scraps and tidbits of leftovers from different Christmas lines.  I used scraps of paper, ribbon, and embellishments.  I LOVE using scraps, so this challenge was a breeze for me!

Happy Crafting!
Karen
