Anything Goes at Word Art Wednesday

Family is SO important to all of us.  We are all blessed by the love of our parents and siblings, as well as by the cousins, aunts and uncles who help shape our lives.  In our house right now, we are feeling a BIG pinch as one of dearest family members fights for her life.  Some of you have heard me mention that my husband's little sister, Audra (42), has brain cancer.  Well, this past week we learned that Audra's cancer has spread through her bones and into her liver.  She's in the capable hands of some of the best physicians in the world at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  They've told her that life expectancy is between two weeks and two months.  This is NOT what any of us wanted to hear.  While the tumor in her brain has shrunk down to almost nothing; the cancer has spread elsewhere in her body.  She is now undergoing very aggressive chemo therapy, and we are praying for the very best knowing that God still performs miracles every day.  If you are a person of prayer, I would ask that you please pray for Audra - that God might heal her and allow her to spend more time with her husband, Rob, and her precious little children Tomas, Andres, Isaias and Audranna (ages 4-9).  If you are able to help financially AT ALL, here is a link to help with her surmounting medical bills which are already well over $500,000.  ANY help is greatly appreciated.  I don't consider Audra a Sister-in-Law; she is my sister, and one of the best friends I've ever had.  I cannot imagine life without her.

Our challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday is sure to be another fun one for everybody who plays along.  We have two amazing prizes again this week.  Crafty Ribbons and Freckled Fawn are our sponsors this week, and you could be the winner of a gift certificate to one of these two wonderful craft stores.  Stop by and share your art with us.  You are welcome to share up to five (5) projects per week, and as always Anything Goes following our simple challenge rules.  We would love to have you play along with us.
I created my card using some Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl patterned papers from my stash.  I used three of the patterned papers as well as a punch-out tag, some red chevron washi tape from Hobby Lobby, some Prima flowers, jute, and a Jenni Bowlin embellishment in the center of the flower.  I machine stitched some of the papers and inked the edges with Tim Holtz ink.  I used a Martha Stewart punch on the border near the bottom.

I'm sharing my card here:
Virginia's View Challenge #7 - Patterned Papers - While I've never won at Virginia's View, I was drawn by the words posted there stating that "we all buy patterned papers, and then we hoard them".  It struck home with me, and since this card was made with patterned papers that are from my SUPER OLD STASH, I just had to enter it.  I can' only hope for the best and give it a try.

Classy Cards 'N Such - Challenge #49 - Stripes, Dots and Chevrons - I used a CHEVRON washi tape on my card.  The item I used from Classy Cards 'N Such is the 1/2" Scor Tape and it's one of my FAVORITE products.  They carry it in several different widths, and it's absolutely a wonderful, MUST-HAVE product!

Scrapbook Blessings Club - Challenge #29 - Anything Goes - I don't know how to make a "wiper card" but they sure look cute!

Please stop by to share your art with us this week at Word Art Wednesday, and PLEASE remember to pray for Audra and her family.  If you re able to help financially, even the smallest amount would be a tremendous blessing.

Happy Crafting!
Karen

  4. Karen, what a humble privilege to pray for Audra and her family. I have tears in my eyes right now thinking of the intense struggle this is for your family. I have seen God's mighty hand working in the midst of tragic circumstances. He can provide miracles in many different ways. I'll pray for miraculous healing, and for all the treasures of heaven to be poured out over your family as you wait upon Him.

Your card is gorgeous as always. I just love to sit and look and the work of your hands and heart. Hugs, sweet friend.
