C is For......Cake

If you're anything at all like me, you love a really good piece of cake.  I would say that I can turn my nose up at the majority of desserts; but a really moist piece of cake with rich butter cream frosting is about my most favorite treats ever!  The very BEST cake I've ever had is made by an old family friend in Duluth, Minnesota.  We call her Kathy "The Cake Lady", and her cakes are the most divine (looking and tasting) cakes I've ever known.  In fact, Kathy is making our daughter's wedding cake in July.  I've already sent her the sweet cake topper, and she's planning the delicious (and beautiful) creation now.  I can almost taste it......but not quite!

I'm having SO much fun planning her wedding.  I've been running around Duluth spending money like crazy on tulle, ribbon, table decorations, lanterns, mason jars, and all sorts of sweet wedding delights.  I can hardly wait to see how everything comes together on the big day.  How exciting!
So, I made this card here in Minnesota.  I haven't done much creating, but I did do some when I visited my BFF at the early part of my trip.  I'm now with my Mom and (step)Dad, brother and niece, brother-in-law (Audra's husband) and their kids; my nieces and nephews.  My MIL also lives here, as well as many other relatives; but I simply can't see them all while I'm visiting.  I did have a lovely lunch date with my favorite cousin today.  It was so nice catching up with her.  It's been far too long.  OK......focus - back to the card.  It was made with some October Afternoon patterned papers and picture cards from an October Afternoon Ephemera package, as are the button and ticket.  The cream seam binding and baker's twine (in button) are from the Kraft Outlet.  I did some inking and machine stitching.......pretty simple.

I'm going to share my birthday cake card in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Clean And Simple" - For me, this is very clean and simple.  I tend to add A LOT to my cards, and this one has just one patterned paper, two OA cards, and seam binding/bow.  Pretty simple for me.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Simon Says: "Due Date" - I'm interpreting this challenge two ways.  First, I used a birthday card in honor of the fact that my DUE DATE is fast approaching (the big 5 - 0 ), and second, by using products that are FAR past their DUE DATE.  These are October Afternoon products from several years ago.  Using some oldies but goodies that have far extended their "due date".  I just need to use them up!

Little Scrap Pieces Show It Off Linky Party - I just LOVE this challenge.  Karen has SO MUCH great inspiration on her blog, and she is giving away her GORGEOUS seam binding.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I appreciate your visit.
