To be very honest with you, I'm a little bit confused about the word "bunting". I had always thought of a bunting as a bird from the cardinal family (or something of that nature). So, when I saw the challenge this week over at Cupcake Inspirations, I had to scratch my head. It was time to educate myself since, obviously, I was missing something. Well, I found this definition and I now consider myself better informed on the matter. Here is what I found:
2. patriotic and festive decorations made from such cloth, or from paper, usually in the form of draperies, wide streamers, etc., in the colors of the national flag. 3. flags, especially a vessel's flags, collectively.
With that new information, it totally made sense to me that a bunting is a decorative banner. The "bunting" I used on this card is some chipboard from Crate Paper's fun Confetti line. It was originally one long piece of chipboard, but I cut it in half to make it fit on my card. The patterned paper is also from Crate Paper, to which I added a small white doily and I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment on the doily using black ink. Then, I placed a pink and ivory seam binding bow at the top right with some metallic gold string and a pearl accent sticker in its center.
I just LOVE the sweet pieces in these Crate Paper lines. As some of you may remember, I scored BIG TIME at Tuesday Morning and got a whole bunch of the sweet embellishments for these lines at great prices, so I have A LOT of it to use up. That's why you see me posting so many cards and projects using Crate Paper. Isn't it cute?
Here's where I am sharing my Bunting Card:
Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog - Challenge #359 - Bunting - And now I truly know what a bunting is. What a FUN challenge!
DRS Designs - Challenge #225 - Distress It - I love inking my cards to give them a distressed look, and it makes them look vintage (which I also love). I used a stamp for my sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteOh man, I love your colors here! A winner for sure! I had to explain this "bunting" challenge to my daughter. I just said, "it means banner..." :-) when I think of "bunting" besides the bird, I think of patriotic bunting or funeral bunting... Not necessarily a banner either!
