Friends Mini Album

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to my blog today as I share a sweet mini album I created using lots of great October Afternoon supplies and Really Reasonable Ribbons and goodies.  I started my mini album with some black chalkboard envelopes that I cut using my Zutter binding machine to add the spiral binding.  I covered each page of the mini alnum with October Afternoon patterned papers and embellishments, and adorned them with lots of luscious Really Reasonable Ribbons that I will explain as I showcase each lovely page of the mini album.  This will be long, so please bear with me.
The cover has patterned paper, a Melissa Frances rub-on (friends) on a chalkboard sticker.  I framed the sentiment with a length of Debra Natural Crochet Lace on each side.  In the upper right-hand corner, I added a bow that includes Lipstick Red Seam Binding, Black Seam Binding, Solid Red Baker's Twine, Black Licorice Baker's Twine, Debra Natural Crochet Lace, and a vintage black button with a "diamond" in its center.  I also added one Red Open End Rose and two Ivory Sweetheart Blossoms.  I also tied lengths of Debra Natural Crochet Lace on the binding rings.
The second page has a journalling card, stickers, and a button that has a length of both Natural Burlap String and Green Apple Baker's Twine tied into a little orange button that's topped with a small pearl sticker.  Another great thing about these envelopes I used to create my mini album is that each envelope opens so that you can tuck in photos, notes and memories of all sorts.
The third page was created by adding a strip of patterned paper to the right side and a sweet "Friends" journalling card in the center and some phrase stickers at the top right.  On the left side, I added a strip of Debra Natural Crochet Lace, a bow made from Mimosa Yellow Seam Binding and I also added two Ivory Sweetheart Blossoms.
Page four includes another OA journalling tag, a journalling sticker, a lengh of Debra Natural Crochet Lace, and a bow tied with Cream Seam Binding that has a tiny button in its center that has a long length of Natural Burlap String.
On to page 5.....this one is pretty simple.  I used a piece of OA patterned paper, and then added a (laugh) card that I tied a long length of Green Apple Baker's Twine around several times.  I thought that perhaps this page could be used to add a photograph or some journalling.
Page 6 is a little bit more involved.  I added another cute journalling card that's attached to a cute piece of scalloped patterned paper, and has a length of Debra Natural Crochet Lace on the side.  I also added two small journalling stickers (one at the bottom and one at the top left), and two chipboard flowers by the length of lace.
Page 7 is my favorite page.  I guess that's because it has to do with.....ice cream!  I added some sweet patterned papers at the bottom that are machine stitched together to create a pocket.  I added a chipboard milk cap on the left of the pocket.  Inside the pocket, I tucked in an ice cream journalling card that has a rubber malt charm, and a tiny glassine bag with stickers and a button tied with Aqua Baker's Twine, and inside the glassine bag there is a tiny tag that's tied with Cotton Candy Baker's Twine.
Page 8 has an adorable journalling card with a scalloped blue cardstock edge, some journalling stickers and a bird chipboard.  What, no ribbons?  LOL
Page 9 is a photo spot with some stickers, a heart, and some Black Licorice Baker's Twine tied several times around the ivory cardstock photo spot.  The Black Licorice Baker's Twine can also be seen on the back cover (which I did not photograph).   This book will be such a sweet place to put heatfelt keepsakes to document friendships during childhood.  Really Reasonable Ribbon really helped me make it sweet and special.

I'm so grateful that you've stopped by today to take a peek at my mini album, and I really hope that this has encouraged you stop by Really Reasonable Ribbon to check out all the fabulous ribbons, laces, baker's twine, flowers and SO much more.  We would also love to have you play along in our current Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge, and to visit the RRR Blog each day for more inspiration by the other talented Design Team Members.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Making Friends at Cre8tive Hands Friends

God has blessed me with so many fabulous blog friends since I first started blogging in January of 2011.  The very first person to EVER follow my blog (besides myself....LOL) was a blog friend named Ardilla.  I've always remembered Ardilla, and been so grateful to her for taking a chance on me and becoming my first blog follower, and we've kept in touch.  So, when she told me that her good friend, Michelle, was starting a new digi company and challenge blog called Cre8tive Hands Friends; and that she needed some design help to get started, I was all in.  I'm always in for helping people get started.  Michelle sent me a few of her sweet new digis, and I got started designing with them right away.  I ended up creating this shaker card using one of the cute glow bugs.  And please remember, dear friends, I don't claim to be a digi wizard by any means whatsoever.
I used some patterned papers, a chipboard frame, blue and yellow sequins, a stamped image, and then the cute little bug.  I printed him off on white cardstock (mistake) and colored him all in the best I could.  Next, I tried cutting out his body (which went smoothly enough) until I got to his poor little antennaes.  OK.....so I will be the first to admit that I struggle with digital images.  I couldn't cut around those fine lines in his cute antennaes, and I inadvertantly ended up chopping off his poor antannae on one side, and piecing it back together.  Let's just say that the larger bug had "antennae surgery"....LOL so please don't look too closely.  (tee hee)   On the smaller bug, I just kept his antennaes attached and saved some of the white space.  Those who have more experience with digital images will do better than I did.  They sure are cute images.
Well, here's some of the exciting news about Cre8tive Hands Friends.  Not only do they have super cute images available, but they are also starting to hold challenges where you can all play along, and you're NOT required to use their images to join in the fun.  They just want to build awareness, and get people LIKE YOU to stop by and play along.  So, I really hope you will take the time to acquaint yourself with Michelle's new company, Cre8tive Hands Friends and say hello - just give it a chance.
I'm a new Cre8tive Hands Friend, and I really hope that you will stop by and become a Cre8ive Hands Friend as well.   Although I couldn't commit to being on the DT full-time, I was happy to help out as a Guest Designer.  However, if YOU are looking for a DT position, Michelle is looking for a few more new artists to join her in this journey.  Thanks so much for stopping by, friends!

Let Your Light Shine

Hello, all of my ribbon loving friends!  I'm posting today for Really Reasonable Ribbon with a sweet card I created using lots of great ribbons and trims in shades of purple.  I don't use purple a whole lot, but it sure turned out nice, so I was glad I gave it a try.
I started with some new Crate Paper patterned papers that I inked in Tim Holtz Wilted Violet Distress Ink on the edges, and machine stitche together.  Then, I added a Melissa Frances rub-on sentiment, a small My Mind's Eye Sticker, and a Prima metal bird.  The fun part was the pretty bow.  I ran a length of Lilac Seam Binding across the width of the card, and then tied a bow using two lengths of it along with one length of Cream Seam Binding, and a length of Violet Burlap String and Wheat Solid Baker's Twine.   I topped the bow with one small Dark Lilac Open End Rose and two small Ivory Open End Roses.   The bow cluster has a tiny little tag (laugh) that's held by a miniature silver safety pin.  You may also notice that I added a little "ribbon tab" on the upper right corner of my card.  That tab includes a small snippet of the three following trims:  Melissa Natural Crochet Lace, Lilac Seam Binding, and Purple Plaid Ribbon.
That's about it, and this is exactly why I LOVE Really Reasonable Ribbon.  By adding a sweet bow and flowers from the sweet shop at Really Reasonable Ribbon, I can turn my simple cards into a real work of art.  Their wonderful products quickly jazz up your creations, and instantly take them from "Zero to Hero".....LOL

AND.....don't forget about our fun challenges on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog where you can play along and share your projects.  We LOVE seeing your projects, and we thank you for joining us.  There's also lots of great inspiration on the blog every day as well as special offers and lots of great new products.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pretty Shaker Card

I had SO much fun making my last shaker card project that I just had to create another one. I attached some sequins to a piece of vellum behind a chipboard frame.  The patterned papers I used are Crate Paper, and I also used some vintage sheet music, machine stitching, and some pink and black baker's twine.
At the bottom left, I made a flower that included a wool felt stem cut from a Papertrey Ink die-cut, some Prima lace, and a pink button with DMC floss run through the center.  The (happy) sentiment is a tag from Heidi Swapp.  That's about it.   You will have SO much fun with these gorgeous sequin mixes.....they're the sweetest!

I'm entering my card in this fun Shaker Card challenge:

Blessings to you all for a happy weekend!

Let's Celebrate with Really Reasonable Ribbon

I'ts time to CELEBRATE at Really Reasonable Ribbon, and we hope that YOU will join us!  Our new challenge is all about celebrations.  It can be a birthday, an anniversary, or any other reason you might have to celebrate.  Just tell us what you're celebrating, and include ribbon, twine, or some sort of spooled trim on your project and you can play along in our new challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon.
For this great new CELEBRATE Challenge, I created a simple card using two different patterned papers that I machine stitched together.  I added a white doily and a Crate Paper celebrate chipboard sentiment along with some sequins at the top.  Then....the exciting part - the BOW using lots of great products from Really Reasonable Ribbon!
I started by running a length of the gorgeous Summer Rose Seam Binding across the card.  I also tied two bows again using this same lovely Seam Binding.  On top of that, I tied a bow using Black & White Plaid Houndstooth Ribbon which really looks great against the bright pink.  I topped the bow with some of Really Reasonable Ribbon's fabulous Mulberry Flowers.  I used two small Black Open End Roses and one larger Deep Pink Open Rose.

We really look forward to seeing your Celebration Cards, and we encourage you to play along.  You can find the challenge, along with LOTS of great inpiration every day on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog.

Happy crafting,
Karen

Sponsored by Simon Says Stamp

It's Wednesday again, and time for a fun new challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  This time, we are being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp, and someone will win a $25 gift certificate to spend at this amazing on-line craft store.  Many of our Design Team Members have shared cards on the Word Art Wednesday blog using Simon Says Stamp exclusive products.  You just might want to stop by and see what's new!
This card uses the word art/scripture for this week and includes some fabulous clear embossing powder (yes, you can emboss digital images) from Simon Says Stamp.  I simply printed the verse on a piece of vellum, sprinkled it with clear embossing powder, and heat embossed it right away.  It really makes the words stand out nicely, and you can see that I did change the color (to blue) on some of the key words.  At the bottom of my card, I included some sweet ribbons and flowers from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I really hope that you will all stop by Word Art Wednesday to play along in our challenge for your chance to win the $25 gift certificate from Simon Says Stamp.  We absolutely LOVE seeing your projects and having you join us.

Have a blessed week,
Karen

Hop Into Easter

Hello, my blog peeps!  Today I'm sharing a sweet little glassine bag/pocket card I created using some fabulous die-cuts from Frantic Stamper.  These die-cuts are SO cute, and the sequins are the most adorable little accents for this (and ANY) project!
The February Release of Precision Dies at Frantic Stamper brought all of us SO many great options in the way of new die-cuts to help prepare us for Easter.  I was able to use three of these fabulous new dies on this little project I created for Frantic Stamper.
First, I used the new Basket Weave Panel to make a cut from wool felt that I cut down, folded over, stitched and turned into an "Easter Basker" of sorts.  I tucked some green tulle (grass) and painted/glittered chipboard garden pieces into the Basket Weave Panel basket.  Then, on top of the basket I added one (of three) Bunny Backs (two in white, and one in pink with alternating tails).  The die-cut set includes the bunny and his cute fluffy little tail.  I attached this entire scene, which I backed with green cardstock cut/fringed to look like grass.  I attaced the entire design to a large glassine bag that I folded half-way back up and machine stitched to create a pocket.  Into the pocket, I tucked a large photo/journalling mat that I cut from pink cardstock; and to which I attached the sentiment EASTER.  This EASTER sentiment was cut using the new Block Easter Sentiment.
All the dies from the February release are just as adorable as these, and will help you create something really special for Easter.  From a little party favor to gift items, cards, scrapbook pages and more - you are sure to LOVE the way these sweet die-cuts will help your projects to really STAND OUT and be remembered.  They're just so sweet, and they all work so well together.   And what could be sweeter than adding some PRECIOUS sequins to your project to make it sparkle?
Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope this project will really inspire you to pick up some new dies from the Frantic Stamper Precision Dies February Release.

I will be linking up this little project in the following challenges:

Cut It Up Challenge #89 - Masking Technique - I did this on my title

Die Cuttin' Divas - Challenge #253 - Kids' Challenge - This fun project (using three different die-cuts) is a special treat for a KID I love a whole lot, my niece.

Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday Love

DL ART - February Linky Party - I absolutely LOVE Diana's sweet shop, and hope you will all check out her FABULOUS seam binding bundles.  I'm so happy to play along for a chance to win!

Have a blessed week, my creative friends and thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at my "Hop into Easter".  Happy crafting!

Color Pop Fortune Teller at PTI

Hey there, everyone!  Today I'm sharing a sweet little glassine bag I decorated as a sample for a client who wants some party favors for her daughter's birthday.  I was completely inspired by the Color Pop Fortune Teller post today at Papertrey Ink.  I decided to use the Color Pop Fortune Teller to select the colors for my sample project.  Now, let me be honest when I tell you that I was a little bit freaked out when that darker blue popped up.  I thought to myself, "how on earth will I ever make this work"?  Well....I read Nichole's post again and read what she said about letting someone else pick your colors.  So, I just went with it and added some darker blue tulle and sequins.  It's definitely colorful!
I picked up these adorable glassine bags at a little shop in Mesa, Arizona a couple weeks ago.  I had never seen glassine bags in this particular size and shape before, so I swooped them up.  I tucked a cute paper straw and a wooden spoon inside the bags, thinking they would make really cute party favors.  This concept was inspired by a project I saw a few days ago on Lilybean Paperie, Melissa Phillips' sweet blog.
I implemented all the colors that the Color Pop Fortune Teller chose for me by including sequins and a seam binding bow to squeeze them all in to my little project.  I die-cut a heart, once in vintage dictionary paper and once in Sweet Blush pink wool felt.  I hung a sweet Tiny Tags Die and stamped it (Love) with a Tiny Tags Stamp Set.
I'm sharing this sweet little project in the following challenges:

Papertrey Ink - Make It Market Mini Kit - Color Pop Fortune Teller Challenge for PTI's 9th Anniversary - I used the following PTI products on my little party favor - Rustic Cream Button TwineTiny Tags Die and Tiny Tags Stamp Set (Love).  Please read my story about the color choices (above) that were chosen by using the Color Pop Fortune Teller.

Thanks SO MUCH for visiting me today.  I'm always tickled pink by the sweet comments you leave, and I enjoy stopping by to see what all of you are creating as well.  I had a lot of fun creating this project.  Papertrey Ink has been a long-time favorite of mine, and I would just CRY if I actually ever won at this amazing blog.  Although, I'm not holding my breath on that one....LOL

Love is a Beautiful Thing

Love is such a beautiful thing, and I wanted to create a really pretty card to showcase the word "LOVE".  I started with a patterned paper that I painted on the edges with cream acrylic paint.  Next, I painted and glittered a Prima Tattered Angles frame as my focal point, and placed vintage music paper behind it.  I adorned the side of the frame with some torn and inked cheesecloth, inked lace, and some flowers and baker's twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
The sentiments are from two different die-cuts.  First, I cut LOVE from a Top Dog Dies alphabet die, and I painted and glittered those.  Then, I cut the word LOVE again from the same patterned paper using a Frantic Stamper script love die-cut.  Love is such a beautiful thing; so I figured....why say it just once?

I'm entering my LOVE card in these challenges:

Scrapy Land Challenge Blog - Challenge #35 - Anything Goes - I used two dies (one of which is sold at Scrapy Land).   I used a Top Dog Dies alphabet die set, and also a Frantic Stamper Big Hand-written Love die-cut (sold at Scrapy Land - just follow link).

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says, "Have a Heart"

Fun Cuts Alphabet Challenge - "L Is For Love"

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge Blog - Challenge #252 - LOVE - I used two different die-cuts for my LOVE sentiments.

DL ART Thankful Thursday - Challenge #173 - Anything Goes - Valentine's

Thanks for stopping by today.  I'll be back tomorrow with a new post for you, but for today I wanted to say that "love is a beautiful thing"!

Blessings to you all,
Karen

Anything Goes at Really Reasonable Ribbon

It's challenge time at Really Reasonable Ribbon, and this time it's Anything Goes!  Each member of the RRR Design Team has created a project for this challenge using several of the sweet images from Polly's Paper Studio.  The set I used is called Retro Valentines, and it has eight super sweet images.  I used only four of them.  I wanted to create a little Valentine's gift bag for my niece and newphews (Audra's kids) to let them know I'm thinking of them.  I know that Audra would have done something special for them for Valentine's Day.  This very first photo shows a little container I decorated to hold their goodies.  I decorated the front of it with Vanessa White Crochet Lace, Pink Burlap String, Lipstick Red Seam Binding, Cherry Baker's Twine, and Pink Roses With Scalloped Edge on White Grosgrain Ribbon.  There's also a 3-D embellishment in the center.
Then, I used tiny little white treat bags, and placed a pink die-cut doily on each.  Next, I placed the Retro Valentine's (four of them) on each bag.  I made a bow for each bag.....and placed them in the lower left corner.  Each bow is made from the following trims in the order which I attached them - first, a length of Lipstick Red Seam Binding, then a length of Pink Aster Seam Binding, and then a length of Red Solid Baker's Twine (perfect for Valentine's Day).  Each bow is topped with a sweet little Two-Toned Pink Sweetheart Blossom.  I also clipped a tiny wooden clothespin with a black chalkboard heart to the top of each bag.  Of course, I will stuff them with candy or a gift card before I give them to the kids.
Here's some really exciting news.   The lucky winner of this Anything Goes Challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon will win FIVE (5) digital files of choice from Polly's Paper Studio for themselves!!  This is really a fabulous prize, and the lucky winner will be chosen by random draw, so....EVERYONE who enters has an equal chance of winning.  This sweet shop carries the most adorable images, and they are SO easy to use.
I just printed them, cut them, and pasted them on my project.  And how STINKING CUTE are they?  You will definitely want to play along for the chance to win this amazing prize.  And....we always LOVE having you play along in the Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenges.   Just include some sort of trim (ribbon, lace, twine, etc.) on your project, and you will be eligible to win this lovely prize.
I can't thank you enough for stopping by my blog today.  I'm always so grateful for your sweet comments, and always looks forward to visiting your blog to see what you have been creating.  And....if you're in search of some fabulous ribbons or trims (among other great embellishments), then take time to stop by Really Reasonable Ribbon to do some shopping.  They're sure to have the perfect trims and flowers for your next project.

Blessings to you,
Karen

P.S.  I'm playing along in these challenges with these sweet projects:

Thanks

Hello, my creative peeps!  I hope you're all having a great week.  I'm looking forward to the weekend.  How about you?  We finally get a weekend where we can just stay home and relax, so that will be fun.  Well, except for the whole Super Bowl thing.  That's totally NOT my "thing".  But the rest of the family enjoys it, so I will go hide in my craft room I guess.
I stopped at Hobby Lobby this morning where I picked up My Mind's Eye On Trend 6x6 paper pad.  I immediately fell in love with these super sweet papers, but didn't quite know what to create with it.  So, I found a beautiful card on Pinterest made by a talented card-maker named Stella.  You can see her (original) version of the card (the one that inspired me) here on Stella's Blog.  I put my own twist on it, of course, but the original design is all hers.  I just might have to pick up some of the On Trend embellishments for this sweet line.

In addition to the My Mind's Eye On Trend patterned papers, I also used a white doily, a gold Sweet Dot from V's Sweet Ideas, a Sizzix leaf die-cut that I cut from vellum, and some gold sequins.  The sentiment (thanks) is from Studio Calico and was cut from gold foil paper.  I really tried to keep it simple because these papers are SO pretty.

I'm going to link my card to these challenges:

Scrapy Land Challenge Blog - Challenge #35 - Anything Goes - I used a Sizzix Die (the leafy swag cut from vellum).

Diana M. Larson's DL.ART Thankful Thursday - Challenge #173 - Anything Valentines/Optional Thank You - I chose to share a THANK YOU card since it's optional, and after all, it's called "Thankful Thursday".

Thanks for visiting, and have a blessed week.

Enjoy This Day

Welcome back to my blog, everyone.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I just wanted to quickly share this card I made for Frantic Stamper using one of their amazing precision die-cuts.  This particular die is their Bicycle Die from their December release.
This sweet Frantic Stamper Precision Die-Cut has all the intricate little gears found on a real bicycle, and is so life-like.  I cut the image from both black and pink cardstock, and then did some layering.  I used a kraft card for my base, added a white paper doily, some inked patterned papers, and then placed this sweet Bicycle Die-Cut in the center to give it the attention it so deserves.  I also added a patterned paper strip at the bottom where I hand stamped my sentiment.  Next to the stamped sentiment, you will notice a snippet of baker's twine and a little flower which was created using Frantic Stamper's Precision Small Layering Posies Die-Cut with a small pearl accent sticker in its center.

Frantic Stamper carries everything from your favorite patterned papers and embellsihments to die-cuts and matching stamp sets.  You're sure to find just what you're looking for.  Also, you can see from my project that these AMAZING die-cuts work perfectly in cutting paper, wool felt, and many other materials.  They're truly awesome!

I'm sharing my card here:

Scrapy Land Challenge Blog - Challenge #35 - Anything Goes - I used two Frantic Stamper Dies on this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you're having a blessed and creative week.  I'm so grateful for you all.

Graciellie Blog Hop Continuing

Hello, all my creative friends!  I'm posting today to share a second card I made to support my fellow blog friend (and very talented artist) Gracie as she celebrates the relaunch of her adorably sweet Graciellie's Digital Design Shop.  Gracie has designed some lovely new digital stamp sets designed for card-making, scrapbooking, journalling, mixed media, and even home decor.
You should arrived here from the blog of my uber talented freind, Tenia Nelson and I'm sure you LOVED her sweet card.   If you didn't come here from Tenia's blog, you can always head back to Gracie's Blog to get started.   This is the card I created using one of her sweet new stamp sets called "Believe".
I printed the "Belive" sentiment from this lovely set onto a sheet of vellum paper.  As soon as it came off the printer, I added gold embossing powder and heated it with an embossing tool to give the sentiment some texture. Did you even know that you could emboxx digital images?  I just learned this sweet technique, and Gracie's sweet images emboss just beautifully with very little effort. I machine stitched the vellum to some patterned paper, and then added a sweet flowery seam binding and burlap string bow , some sequins, and a metal key from Prima at the bottom.   This stamp set actually comes with two sentiments (of which I ued one).  To see my first card using this stamp set, you can click here for my previous post.
This digital stamp set, along with all her other wonderful new sets, can be found in Gracie's Design Shop here.  Remember to like and follow her shop to be the first to learn of new products, and hear about specials.
And Now.....THE GIVEAWAY!   THREE of you blog hoppers will win a brand new digital stamp set from Graciellie's Digital Design Shop.  To be eligible to win one of the three prizes, simply hop along to each blog and leave a comment telling us what you would love to create with one of Gracie's lovely digital stamp sets.

The next stop on the hop is at the blog of the sweet and talented Samra L, and I just know she will have prepared something delightful.  She always does!  The blog hop will run for one week, and the winners will be posted on Gracie's Blog, so be sure to stop back by her blog on February 8 to see if you're a winner!

Have a blessed week, and thanks for stopping by.
Karen
