Pink Persimmon Visits Word Art Wednesday

Hello my crafty friends!  It's Wednesday again, and time for another super fun Anything Goes challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  I know I'm  a bit prejudiced, but I happen to think that Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog has the BEST SPONSORS of any challenge blog out there!  If you've ever taken a good look at our sidebar listing all the sponsors that support our challenges each week, I'm sure you will agree that we are truly blessed with awesome sponsors.  This week is no exception, and we are excited and pleased to announce that our sponsor for this week's challenge is the ever-delightful Pink Persimmon Stamps.
Pink Persimmon Stamps Sponsors Word Art Wednesday
One lucky winner will receive FIVE STAMP SETS from Pink Persimmon's collection (see photo).
I happen to be a BIG FAN of their darling stamps.  In fact, I made my Design Team card this week using some of their wonderful stamps.  This card here uses the Vintage Baby Carriage stamp set:
Karen Letchworth for Word Art Wednesday
I also used some floral patterned paper, brown and tan seam binding for the bow, a vintage pink button and some machine stitching.  On the inside of my card, you will see this week's free scripture/word art file available on the blog for you to download for free, and use or save to your computer.  You are welcome to use it on your project if you choose, but never required to do so.  And is if that prize above isn't enough, there are also ten (10) more prizes up for grab in this week's challenge.  Scripture By Design will give chipboard prizes to ten lucky winners, so with eleven prizes total, it's a great week to play along at Word Art Wednesday.

I'm going to enter this card in the following challenges this week:

Crafty Ribbons Challenge Blog - Challenge #46 - Anything Goes With Ribbons

Follow A Sketch at The Kraft Journal

Hello, my crafty friends!  I'm back again today with my Design Team project for this week's new challenge at The Kraft Journal.  Our theme for this week is to "Follow Any Sketch".  You can use any of the sketches that our Design Team Members have used, or find one of your own that catches your eye and inspires you.  As long as you use a sketch to inspire you and use some Kraft (or items purchased at The Kraft Outlet) and you can play along with us!
Karen Letchworth for The Kraft Outlet
I found this sketch on-line by doing a Google search for "card sketches with pocket".  I knew that I wanted to make a pocket, and so this is what I came up with for my sketch:
I started my project by using a Large Canvas Tag to create a pocket that holds a gift card. Next, I folded the bottom half of the Large Canvas Tag up to the top, and machine stitched it in place it to create a permanent pocket.  This is a great use of the Canvas Tag because it's always nice to have a pocket that holds a gift card, notes, photos, etc.  I created a tag for the pocket out of Lunch Bag Kraft Card Stock and decorated that with some Black & White Polka Dot Washi Tape snippets, and also tucked in a Scalloped Grungy Prim Tag for journaling.  The sentiment that I used is stamped on another piece of the Lunch Bag Kraft Card Stock, and the little flower has a Custom Fastener in its center.

Hobby Cutz Challenge Blog - Challenge #7 - Flowers/Roses - I love adding flowers or paper roses to my projects.  For this project, I added a Heidi Swapp black flower with a brad in the center.

Crafts and Me Challenge Blog - Challenge #134 - Lots of Layers - My sewing machine can attest to the fact that there are LOTS of layers here!  Since I doubled over the canvas tag AND added paper, washi tape and embellishments, there really are LOTS of lovely layers!

Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog - Challenge #81 - Friends - This is a little project that I made for a friend!

Mark's Finest Papers Simple Salutations - Challenge #46 - Kraft It - I just LOVE using kraft paper, so it was fun to use it on this [project, and of course - my Simple Salutation as well.

Craftin' Desert Divas Challenge Blog - Linky Party Challenge #7 - Anything Goes With Ribbon or Twine - You can see my twine on the journaling tag inside the pocket.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at this little project.  I hope that you will grab a brown paper lunch bag, some kraft paper, or some items from The Kraft Outlet and come play along in this week's Follow Any Sketch Challenge at The Kraft Journal.  We really would LOVE to have you play along with us for the chance to win a gift certificate to the store!

Have a wonderful day,

Karen

Time to Celebrate at The Kraft Journal

It's Monday again, and time for another SUPER FUN challenge at The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog.  And this week, the theme is "CELEBRATIONS".  This could be a birthday, a new baby, a graduation, anniversary, or anything that causes you to celebrate.  I decided to make a card to celebrate the birth of a new baby!
Karen Letchworth for The Kraft Journal
I started out with a Small Luch Bag Kraft Notecard - these note cards are WONDERFUL for card-making.  By picking up some note cards, cardstock, or any of the items at The Kraft Outlet, you not only get some amazing products, but you are also able to play along in our challenges.  To join us, you either need to use products purchased (or won) at The Kraft Outlet, or use any Kraft items you may have on hand.  We LOVE seeing Kraft (and creativity)!!!  Next, I took a smaller piece of Buff Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock and four strips of Blue & White Polka Dot Washi Tape and stitched them to my base with blue thread.  The boat and car are Melissa Frances rub-ons, and the car is on top of a Silver Bottle Cap that I painted cream.  The (it's a) rub-ons are by Jenni Bowlin, and the (boy) sticker letters are Thickers.  I also added  some brown, black and blue Baker's Twine, and accented that knot with a Tim Holtz Memo Pin to give it that "edgy" look.

The Ribbon Carousel - Challenge #81 - Celebrations!  Since I made this card for a "Celebrations" challenge, and I really want to win a fabulous RIBBON CAROUSEL from The Ribbon Carousel, I am sharing this card in their fun challenge!

What are YOU celebrating this week that you can share in our challenge at The Kraft Journal?  We sure would love to have you play along with us.  We select a Top 3 each week, and those names go into a random drawing for a monthly prize of a gift certificate to The Kraft Outlet where you can pick from hundreds of amazing items for all your crafting needs.  Check out this awesome store and do some shopping!

Have a blessed week, and thanks for stopping by today.

Darling October Afternoon

Of all the MANY scrapbook items that I absolutely LOVE, and all the gorgeous lines out there from oodles of awesome companies, one of my ALL TIME favorites is still October Afternoon.  I own SO MUCH of this adorable company's products, and I still feel that I would LOVE to own every single bit of it (greedy, I know - shame on me!)  It's just the most adorable company with so many delightful embellishments, and the best part is that most of the different October Afternoon lines can be combined; and being able to mix and match really helps all that cuteness go even further.  I just LOVE it all.  The second piece of patterned paper (cream and blue stripe ledger paper) is Cosmo Cricket.  Then for the other layers, I used several different patterned papers from various October Afternoon lines, as well as some October Afternoon journaling stickers and chipboard, some washi tapes, Recollections flowers, seam binding bow with baker's twine and Making Memories ribbon, machine stiching, and the pocket of this Kraft Card Sleeve Envelope from The Kraft Outlet holds a little Making Memories tag with journaling and a date sticker).
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Vintage Challenge Blog:  A Little Paper - this card was made using patterned papers from several different 6x6 October Afternoon paper pads, along with small scraps of paper from my October Afternoon stash.

The Play Date Café - Vintage Retro Influences - Inspiration Color/Retro Photo (Maroon, Poppy and Jade)

Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge Blog - Challenge #72 - Red, White & Blue

Chocolate, Coffee Cards Challenge Blog - Challenge #39 - Use a Number - Do you see the numbers on my washi tape? (top right of card)

Great Impressions Stamps Challenge Blog - May Challenge - Celebrations!   This birthday card is going to my friend, Mary.  We've been friends for 24 years.  Mary had a kidney transplant (praise God that she found a donor!)...and last week, she finally had her native kidneys removed.  I've tucked some goodies in the pockets for her!  I still don't have any Great Impressions stamps, but still love to play along in hopes of winning!  And yes, this is a true CELEBRATION that Mary is around to celebrate many more happy birthdays because of a generous donor who (along with God's grace) saved her life!

I'm so grad you stopped by today, and hope that you all had a blessed Lord's Day.  We enjoyed a day at church and out for lunch which is the first time we've all (all five of us including Lily being home from Bible College) been together to do that, so it was really nice!  I just love it when all my babies are tucked in their own beds under our roof (where they belong until they're at least 40...lol).

Thanks again for peeking, and I will see some of you again tomorrow for my Monday morning posts.  Until then, keep counting your blessings!

Sharing God's Word at Word Art Wednesday

Hello my crafty and bloggy friends!  I hope that today finds you all doing well and praising God in everything.  I know that it's not always easy to remember to give God praise when things aren't going well, but...it's more important than ever to praise Him even when times are difficult.  He wants to hear us giving His name the glory and honor it deserves ALL the time.  So, I would suggest to just say "PRAISE the LORD" today, and say it OUT LOUD so that He hears it and gets the praise He deserves.  He loves to hear us praise Him, and Satan and all his demons can hear you PRAISE GOD too!  No, things aren't always going to be going perfectly, but God is always going to be able to get you through them perfectly.  His grace is ALWAYS sufficient, and He wants you to trust Him, and to call out to Him, to ask Him for His help, and of course.....to ALWAYS praise Him.

This week at Word Art Wednesday, we have another great challenge for everyone.  As always, it's an Anything Goes Challenge, and we have another gorgeous word art file for everyone.  Feel free to stop by Word Art Wednesday, save the free word art to your computer, and then stop by to share in our challenge this week.  We have TWO amazing sponsors; Digi Darla Designs is giving away 5 free digis to one winner, and Heart & Soul Rubber Stamps is giving another lucky winner a rubber stamp set of their choice.   It's another great week to be a winner at Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes Challenges.
Karen - For Word Art Wednesday
I'm going to share my card into the challenges where it fits the theme as follows:

Twist of Faith Cards Challenge Blog - Challenge #37 - The Ties That Bind - I've used jute and Baker's Twine on my card

Simon Says Stamp Vintage Challenge Blog - A Little Paper - As it turns out, this is the perfect card for this challenge.  I found this scrap of paper (green gingham check) and there was such a tiny bit left.  I measured to see if it was big enough for a card base, and it was literally the PERFECT length and I just had to trim the width slightly.  I got SO lucky to be able to squeeze out one more card from this lovely 6x6 paper pad from Simple Stories Baby Steps line.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Flower Power

I thank you SO MUCH for stopping by today to say hello and take a little peek at my card.  It's always such a blessing to me when you stop by, and I look forward to visiting each of you on your blogs this week to see what you've been creating.  Please do me two favors this week:  1) stop by Word Art Wednesday to play along in our challenge this week, and 2) PRAISE the Lord OUT LOUD.  God is SO good to us!   Let Him know.

Praising God for you,
Karen

Lovely Cupcake Inspirations

I don't know about the rest of you, but I just LOVE it when I see a challenge with a theme, photo, colors, etc. that truly inspires me.  When I saw this week's colors on the cupcake inspirations photo at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog, I just knew that I wanted to participate.  The cupcakes are in the colors of grape, poppy and rose - beautiful!  I pulled out some supplies and got busy.
I used several different products on this card.  I started with a card base that I made using Buff Ivory Cardstock from The Kraft Outlet.  The red and pink polka dot washi tapes are also from The Kraft Outlet.  Next, I placed a grape (purple) doily that I cut using a Papertrey Ink doily die-cut from grape Bazzill.  The flowers are Recollections (from Michael's), and I also used some Doodlebug glitters.  The baker's twine is from The Twinery, and the "Just Because" sentiment is from Paper Sweeties.

Once you see these darling inspiration cupcakes, you will want to play along as well.  I am hoping to create and share three cards (the maximum) in this challenge because I just LOVE this lovely color combination.  You can read all the details of the challenge on their blog here:

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog - Challenge #210

I'm also entering and sharing my card in this challenge:

Get Inky Challenges - Challenge #4 - Use Some Die-Cuts - The die cut I used on this card is a doily die-cut from PTI.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my card.  If you've been creating this week, I really hope that you will stop by Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog (always Anything Goes) and join us.  We would LOVE to see what you've made this week, and to have you fellowship and share with us.

Have a blessed week,

Karen

Red, White or Blue at The Kraft Journal

It's time for another great challenge at The Kraft Journal, and this week you get to decide if you'd like to use Red, White, Blue, or all three.  You can find all the supplies you will need at The Kraft Outlet, much like I did for my card.
Karen Letchworth - For The Kraft Journal
Well, as you can see....I kinda went with Red for my card.  I do have some gorgeous Kraft and white snuck in there as well, and I accented just a bit with brown.  I started with some awesome Kraft Outlet products as follows:

I used a base of a 5x7 Large Kraft Lunch Paper Bag Note Card.  The red patterned paper is by October Afternoon, as well as the little journaling card.  However, The Kraft Outlet also has these little journaling cards.  They're called Jenni Bowlin Town Square Journaling Cards.  I machine stitched down those, and then added a Mini Kraft Merchandise Bag (perfect for holding a gift card).  Next, I added a Jenni Bowlin Red Apothecary Sticker, some Red & White Polka Dot Washi Tape, a length of Brown Polka Dot Maya Road ribbon and bow, a Jilli Bean Soup wooden Thank You flag, I machine stitched here and there, and then lightly touched the edges of everything with white acrylic paint.

I hope that you will grab some goodies at The Kraft Outlet and come play along in our Red, White or Blue Challenge this week at The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog.  To play along, you just need to either use any product from The Kraft Outlet or any Kraft products (kraft paper, paper bags, kraft tags, etc.).  We would LOVE to have you join us!

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by to take a peek today.  I greatly appreciate your comments, and always enjoy visiting your blogs in return.  Have a wonderful week of crafting, and please be sure to also stop by Word Art Wednesday and share with us there as well (always Anything Goes).

Blessings to you all,
Karen

Baby Love at Eureka Stamps

It's hard to believe that it's Monday again already; and that means that it's time for a new challenge to being at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog, and this week's theme is Pregnancy and/or Baby Cards.  I chose to make a sweet little baby card using one of favorite lines - Simple Stories Baby Steps.  It has coordinating patterned papers and sweet little stickers to match.  The Eureka Stamps images I used are #40101 Baby Feet and #4804(51) God Made You Special.  These adorable images are printed very small, but work SO well on baby cards.  I encourage you click on the photo of my card to pull up the larger version so that you can see all the details up close.  I will just bet that you will want to add these sweet images to your collection, and each of these digital images is just $2 - so why not hop on over to Eureka Stamps and pick them up?  Then, you can stop by The Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog and play along in this week's Pregnancy/Baby Card Challenge.  Of course, you're not required to use Eureka Stamps' Digital Images in order to play along.  We just love to see them used creatively.  I know that I'm looking forward to seeing all the sweet little baby cards you create and share this week.
Karen Letchworth - For Eureka Stamps
As I stated above, I used Simple Stories Baby Steps patterned papers and coordinating stickers (LOTS of them - the rattle, the buttons, two tabs, and the rulers).  I also added some Baker's Twine, machine stitching, and love!

Crazy Cards Challenge Blog - Challenge #145 - Baby Card

My Craft Spot by Kimberly - Challenge #97 - Announcements and Invitations - This card was made to ANNOUNCE and celebrate the arrival of a very special baby in our family!!

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today.  I look forward to seeing your cards this week, and I encourage you to play along in LOTS of challenges this week.  You can combine this challenge with as many others as you'd like, and the same is true at Word Art Wednesday Challenge Blog so, I hope you will play along in both.  I can hardly wait to see your sweet creations.

Have a very blessed week,

Mini Album Tutorial for The Kraft Journal

This is my week to share a quick tutorial with you as part of my Design Team role at The Kraft Journal and I decided to make another little mini paper bag album and show how to close it shut easily.
So, I started with a Kraft Paper Sack and covered it in some various Pink Paislee patterned papers.  Some of the other embellishments from The Kraft Outlet that I used include a Mini Kraft Merchandise Bag, and a journaling spot from the Black Apothecary Sticker Set.
To create my closure for this little album, I simply cut two lengths of Natural Twill Tape and attached them to both the inside flaps of my Kraft Paper Sack by covering them in double-sided red sticky tape.
Attach it here:
The ends will hang loose at the sides of your album while it's open.
As always, I have to mention that I just LOVE using Kraft Paper Sacks to create albums because they come with built-in pockets.  You can see my tag hanging out of this album page.  I used some Red Baker's Twine to tie on my vintage button.
Then, when you want to close your album and display it or tuck it away for safe keeping, it is neatly tied shut.  How cute!  This is a great use for the Twill Tape.
I hope that this little tutorial was helpful.  You can purchase everything you need to make a mini album with tie-shut closure by visiting The Kraft Outlet.  I also hope you will play along in this week's challenge tat The Kraft Journal Challenge blog - Just For Girls Challenge.

And.....because I am SO thankful for my Mother, and for all the wise women in my life, I am sharing this project in the following challenges:

Twist of Faith Challenge Blog - Challenge #36 - Mother's Day - I am SO thankful for my Mom and for all the wise and Godly women in my life, so I wanted to share this in the challenge.  I also have an encouraging sentiment on the front (a Melissa Frances rub-on quoting Oprah Winfrey on thankfulness).

The Ribbon Reel - Challenge #52 - Love Letters - I loved this red and blue combination

Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Simon Says Happy Mail - This quote by Oprah is happy mail for anyone, and I sure have an awful lot of people in my life for whom I am thankful

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Challenge:  Inspired By - The front of this book is a wonderful quote by Oprah Winfrey regarding thankfulness.  If you click on the photo, you read the entire quote.  It's wonderful!  Thanks for a great challenge.

Really Reasonable Ribbon - Challenge #71 - Sparkle/Bling & Ribbon - The sparkly/blingy parts are the  Maya Road stick pin and the K & Co. brad with gems that are on the cover of my album.  And the ribbon.....well,  it's pretty much everywhere!

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.  Stop on by The Kraft Journal to share your "Just For Girls" projects with us, and by Word Art Wednesday (always Anything Goes).  We would LOVE to have you join us at these challenges.  The more places you share your art, the more chances you have to win and the more people who get to enjoy your wonderful art.

Have a blessed week,
Karen

New Eureka Stamps Challenge

Celebrating MOMS seems to be a popular theme going on at a lot of challenge blogs lately, and such is the case this week at Eureka Stamps.  If you've made a "Mom" card, I encourage you to stop by and share it in our challenge for the chance to win your choice of some amazing digital stamps.  It's easy and fun to play along, and you know you need to get those Mother's Day cards made.  I hope that we will see you participate this week.  For my card, I used Eureka Stamps digi#36404 Happy Mother's Day.  This is a great digi to order because then you will always have it saved to use on ANY Mother's Day card you ever make.  It could go on the front (as I've done), or on the inside of your card.  You just might want to consider picking up this great sentiment to use for all your Mother's Day cards...this year, and for all the years to follow.  It's a small investment for a stamp that will come in handy again and again; not to mention, the font is just beautiful.
I used Bo Bunny patterned papers, a Prima flower, some hand-made scrunched seam binding, and machine stitching,  Pretty simple card, and my Mother-in-Law LOVES purple, so I think she will really love this card.

Pile It On Challenge Blog - Challenge #18 - For A Mother

Platypus Creek Digitals - Challenge #31 - Mother's Day (my Mother's Day image is a digi)

Chocolate, Coffee, Cards Challenges - Challenge #38 - Mother's Day

My Craft Spot By Kimberly Challenge - #96 - For Moms

Scrapping EveryDay Miracles - Challenge #28 - All Things Have Become New - I used Bo Bunny patterned papers on this card that are MANY years old from my stash, and the part about "becoming new" is my relationship with my dear Mother-in-Law (who this card is for).  Since her husband passed away, I have a whole new relationship with her; and it's even closer and better than ever before.  I'm so blessed that I can be there for her in this special way.

You can also share your Mother's Day cards in this month's challenge at V's Sweet Ideas (Mother's Day Theme Challenge), as well as at Word Art Wednesday Challenges (always Anything Goes); and of course Eureka Stamps (Mother's Day Challenge).  I look forward to seeing your sweet creations, and greatly appreciate having you share your talents in all these challenges.  Mothers are such special people, and it's always good to recognize them.  If your Mother is no longer with you, then I would suggest making (and sending) a card to some special person in your life who is a special Mom.  Many times, mothers go unnoticed and don't get that special acknowledgement.  Your card may be the only one they receive.  If you're thinking of someone right now, go ahead and make a card for them. I'm sure it will be appreciated and treasured!

If you're a Mom, I'd like to wish YOU a very blessed Mother's Day.  It's not an easy job, but it's a very important one.  You are shaping the lives of the children God has entrusted to you.  I'd also like to share this little saying that has always been very dear to my heart, and that I have hanging on a plaque in my home.  It goes like this....."A Mother writes on the hearts of her children, things the world can NEVER erase".  Don't ever underestimate the impact you have on your children.   Good or bad, they are watching you.  When you seek God's direction and wisdom in raising your children, He WILL give it to you.

Have a blessed week,

Karen
