V's Sweet Ideas is Sharing Special Techniques

OK....I will admit that I've used this technique/tutorial before, but it always seems to be an "oldie but a goodie" and has always been so well received.  So, when I heard that the challenge at V's Sweet Ideas Challenge Blog for April was a "Special Technique" Challenge, I chose to resurrect the paper bag pocket.  It all starts with a Small Kraft Paper Sack just like this:
The next step is to simply fold the bottom of your Paper Sack half way up, and then secure it, cover it with patterned paper, and machine stitch it in place.  Once you've done this very important step, you've basically created your paper bag pocket.  Everything else is just "icing on the cake", and V's Sweet Ideas makes that part easy!
As you can see, this is a VERY simple technique.  Yet, it makes a wonderful gift-giving project because you now have a built-in pocket where you can tuck in a gift card or note.  It's up to you how you'd like to decorate the paper bag pocket to suit your needs.
I embellished my paper bag pocket with some goodies from V's Sweet Ideas including their beautiful Cappuccino Baker's Twine, their gorgeous Coral Hug Snug Seam Binding and May Arts Cream Crinkle Ribbon, and some Pink Triangle Washi Tape, with V's Sweet Enamel Dots.  This close-up shows the flower I placed in the middle of my bow.  It's cut from layers of patterned paper covered in the washi tape, and has a Sweet Enamel Dot in the center.  The little leaf is hand-cut from wool felt.
Next, I made a little tag to tuck in the pocket.  It's quite simple, and it coordinates with everything else.  There's a snippet of the Pink Triangle Washi Tape, and more of V's Sweet Enamel Dots (V's Shoppe has LOTS of great colors of these popular enamel dots), as well as a stamped sentiment.
We would absolutely LOVE to have you stop by this month to play along in our "Special Technique" Challenge and show us one of your favorite crafting techniques.  There's a fabulous prize, and we hope you will join us.  There are also LOTS of great new items in V's Sweet Shoppe.  Stop by soon to take a peek and do some Spring shopping.  And check this out.....the prize for our April Technique Challenge is a $20 gift certificate to V's Sweet Shoppe!!!  Now, that's a prize that I wish I could win.  There are SO many darling items available in her shop.  Come, play along and show us your favorite technique.
