I love that saying, "you're a chip off the old block". I hear it all the time in reference to my (taking after my Mom), in reference to my husband (taking after his Dad), and even in reference to our son (taking after his Dad). But when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Why wouldn't we tend to be "a chip off the old block" since our parents have such a profound impact on our lives, and shape who we become. I am like my Mom in many ways; some good and some not so good. But it still makes me who I am as a person. I will focus on the good, and keep working on the flaws. LOL I am definitely a work in progress.
I found these sweet Maya Road boxes on clearance at a scrapbook store in Minnesota. In fact, it was more than just a scrapbook store. They have a full retreat center that you can attend with friends, and stay in really nice rooms with a full kitchen, and have full access to their store. So, if you're ever in the market for a Scrapbook Retreat, I strongly encourage you to check out the Pine City Scrapbook Center in Pine City, Minnesota. These sweet blocks were in their clearance section, and they have little coasters inside that you can decorate.
I used lots of great Crate Paper, Oh Darling patterned papers and embellishments to decorate this block. I thought it would be a really sweet gift to give my niece, Alexa, for her Birthday. The top of the box flips up, so she can put it in her room and tuck little things inside. I sure wish I could have stayed in Minnesota for her Birthday. She's also a "chip off the old block" in that she takes after her Auntie Karen in SO many ways. She plays the piano (like I do), she's a singer (like I am), and she has a SERIOUS sense of humor and love for ice cream, just like me!
I found a couple of challenges where this sweet little project could be shared, so I'm sharing in these challenges:
Paper Issues Challenge - New Issue: Chip Off The Old Block - How fun to create a BLOCK project for this fun challenge. And by the way, if you haven't ever checked out Paper Issues, you will definitely want to visit this AMAZING store and fun blog. They offer LOTS of great inspiration, and they sell the products you need to create the fun projects they share.
Stamp & Create Challenge - Patterns - I always LOVE using patterned papers
I'm SO glad that you've stopped by today, and I thank you for the visit. I look forward to visiting your blog as well; so if you leave me a comment, I'll be sure to stop by.
Blessings to you,
Karen
Fabulous project! And so true about our parents... I'm a chip of the old block like my dad.... not a good thing... But It's who I am and I'm okay with it! Flaws and all.... :) So glad you shared this! :)
