I don't know about you, but I am such a creature of habit. If I look through my cards, I notice a recurring theme and see that I tend to do the same things over and over again. Seldom do I venture outside my box and try something a bit out of my comfort zone. But today....I did it!
I saw the new challenge over at Mod Squad Challenge Blog and really wanted to give it a try. I started with some card stock and a stencil I've had for ages, and sponged the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I added one strip of patterned paper, some Antique Gold Burlap String, Green Center Stitched Burlap Ribbon, and stamped images and a sentiment using Papertrey Ink's Twig Wreath Stamp Set.
I also added a metal brad with a gem in the center, a wooden JilliBean Soup word (happy), and just had some fun randomly stamping the Autumn images onto my card. It's something different for me, and I'm glad I attempted something new. I will be sharing my card in a few challenges where I enjoy playing along:
Mod SquadChallenge Blog - Fall Colors - I TOTALLY followed Joyce's example and used a stencil, some Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Marmalade and Tea Stain) to sponge the stenciled background for this card. Thanks for the inspiration, Joyce!
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Heavy Metal - I'm not so sure about "heavy", but I did purposely add a metal gem in the center of my bow so that I could play along here.
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
DJKardCreations - NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff) Challenge #12 - This is my third and final entry into this fun challenge. The NBUS used on this card is the stencil. Not only is it the first time I used it, but it's also the first time I attempted stenciling my background like this and venturing out of my "safe zone" to try something new.
