For My Dear Mom

Today I'm sharing a card that I made for my Mom.  It's not for any Design Team assignment, but just for love of creating (with her in mind).  It's simply a card that I made for fun, and that I plan to give to my Mom to let her know I'm thinking of her.  I get to go see my Mom next month and spend a week or so with her.  I'm looking forward to those special moments in the early morning, sipping our coffee and chatting around the kitchen table; or the late nights eating ice cream and talking - just spending time together watching our favorite shows.  I can't wait!
I created this card using lots of great October Afternoon supplies.  I started with a Bazzill base (deep gold) and attached some October Afternoon patterned papers that I machine stitched together.  I added a Maya Road kraft envelope to which I machine stitching some litters letters to spell mom.  I even stamped an October Afternoon floral stamp onto it in red.  There's a bit of vintage lace at the bottom.  I die-cut several flowers from October Afternoon patterned paper using a Papertrey Ink floral die set.  I tied several lengths of Natural Burlap String around my buttons and underneath my flowers.  The buttons are also from October Afternoon.  I feel SO blessed to get to attend their annual warehouse sale, and I have more of it than I will ever use; but that's ok.  I'm not complaining at all. It's still one of most favorite companies of all time.  The inspiration for this card came from the October Afternoon Blog, and I totally lifted someone else's original idea on this one.

Even though this card was just for fun, I will still enter it in this fun challenge:

Scrapping Everyday Miracles Challenge Blog - Welcome to Almost Spring Challenge - Card Layout - I don't get to play along here very often (although I'd like to do so much more).  I created this card so that I could play along.  While I definitely "flipped" the sketch, I did use it to inspire me.

  2. I love the way you incorporated the little envelope to the design of your card. Your mom is going to treasure it, but not as much as she'll treasure the time that you'll be spending with her. Blessings!
