Feeling Patriotic at The Card Concept

It's ALWAYS a good time to thank a veteran for their service to our country.  The new challenge over at The Card Concept is doing just that with their new challenge.  The inspiration photo is just a starting point for your creativity.  I chose to use the literal patriotic theme, the red white and blue, and to make a thank you card for my Dad who is a veteran.  It was fun growing up as a "military brat"; and because my Dad is high-ranking (Lt. Col.), I always enjoyed walking around on base with him because pretty much everyone had to salute my Dad.  It's a good feeling and I'm SO grateful for his years of service - just as I'm thankful for every person who has served our great country.
I used black cardstock and some patterned papers from Echo Park to create my base.  I cut the little rectangles and on one of them, I added some Oxide Ink to create a fun background.  I used a Stamp Simply Clear Stamps stamp set for the sentiment and stars.  A few little sequins, some Red Wrinkle Ribbon, and a White Sweetheart Blossom were the finishing touches.
Challenges are always more fun when everyone plays along.  You don't necessarily have to make a patriotic card to enter the challenge at The Card Concept.  The inspiration photo is simply a starting point.  Anything at all that speak to you is fine.  Just let your creativity run wild.  The point is to come by and play along.  We look forward to seeing your creations.
Thanks once again for stopping by my blog today.  I'm always super grateful to have you visit me. Have a blessed week, everyone.

I'll be sharing my patriotic card in the following challenges where I always enjoy playing along:

  1. I too love patriotic cards and miss making them for OWH since it closed. Saying thank you doesn't seem like enough when you consider they lay their lives on the line, but I will continue thanking all military for what they do! Great card with the stars and beautiful red bow!
