Year of the Snake

This card is most definitely "out of my wheelhouse" so to speak, and when I first saw this challenge; I was fairly certain that I didn't own a snake stamp.  But I started searching my stash high and low.  The reason they call it a "challenge" is because it's supposed to truly CHALLENGE your creativity.  This card did that for me, and I had more fun creating it than I ever could have imagined.  It's called a Lunar New Year Challenge, and it celebrates The Year of the Snake.
I used black cardstock layered with a bright neon red cardstock layered with my sentiment image that were both cut from white cardstock.  I colored the snake with my Copic markers in an ombre style.  Next, I added some floral prills (red and yellow) to those parts of the snake; and some green microbeads to his cute little head.  I did this for added texture and to make it more interesting.  Always trying to avoid glitter.  LOL
The sentiment was stencilled with a polka dot stencil in the coordinating colors.  It's a digital sentiment stamp from Bonnie Garby Designs called Positive Uplifting Quotes.  I added some sequins, and a pretty bow tied with Green, Yellow and Red Solid Baker's Twine.  I love this sentiment for celebrating the Lunar New Year because I believe that the celebration is about looking forward toward new beginnings.  I stamped Happy Birthday on the inside of the car to tie it all together.
Thanks so much for visiting me here today.  If you have any questions at all, I'm happy to answer them.  It would be awesome to have you all stop by the Lunar New Year Challenge and share your creativity as well.  Challenges are always most fun when everybody joins in the fun.  I hope to see you out there in blogland.

Blessings,
Karen

I'll be sharing my FUN card in the following challenges:

Lunar New Year Challenge - Year of the Snake - I had so much fun creating my card and playing along in this challenge.  It truly did "challenge" me, which is the whole idea.  I stamped the inside of my card with a simply "Happy Birthday" sentiment.  The only sponsor product I was able to use on this card was some Altenew paint and ink.  Thanks for another fun (and challenging) challenge, Amy.  It's good to learn about and celebrate new things.
Stencil Fun Challenge - February: Anything Goes - I used a DOTS stencil on my sentiment area.
