Let's Go Fishing w/CutCardStock

It's hard to believe that Spring is here, and that Father's Day is just around the corner. Celebrating my Dad (a 92-year-old retired Colonel in the United States Air Force) is something I like to do all year long, but Father's Day is always an extra special day to let him know just how awesome he is and how very much he means to me. No matter what the occasion, CutCardStock always has the perfect cardstocks and papers to help me create awesome cards that will hold up nicely. I've been on this Design Team for a couple months now; and I'm SO super impressed with the high quality of the CutCardStock papers I've used thus far. They aren't like your typical craft store cardstocks. Nope! They're thicker, heavier and sturdier than any other cardstocks I've ever used. Simply put.....they're awesome!

First and foremost, I'd like to give artistic credit for the inspiration I received from Beth Wainwright of Stampin' Up when creating this card.  It uses an older Stampin' Up stamp set and die-cuts set called Gone Fishing.  My card starts off with Desert Storm Cardstock that I used for the base and inside layers. I stamped several of my images directly onto the Desert Storm Cardstock. I love the slight "speckles" you see in this cardstock. It's like a literal desert storm with the wind blowing. It's fabulous! Two of the cut-out spaces, as well as all the fishing images, were cut using Natural White Cardstock. As you can see, all of my stamped images look fabulous stamped onto either of these lovely cardstocks. The papers are absolutely gorgeous.

That STUNNING blue paper that I used for the second base layer and the tackle box were cut using Lessebo Premium Misty Blue Cardstock. Again, the weight and thickness of this high-quality paper is amazing. It's firm, easy to work with, cuts so nicely, and really makes my card pop with color. And here's some GREAT NEWS.....this amazing Lessebo 83lb Premium Color Cardstock comes in a wide variety of beautiful colors to help you with any and every project.  By the way, I've had this stamp and die set for a very long time, but this is the first time I've ever used it.

Surprise Guest at Seize The Birthday

It's time for a FUN new challenge over at Seize The Birthday, and I've been invited to be the Surprise Guest for July and August.  The optional "Topping" for this challenge is Food/Drink, but you can share any Birthday card in the challenges at Seize The Birthday.  The Design Team and I are excited to see what you'll create to share in this FUN new challenge.

I used a light tan cardstock for my card base.  I topped that with three different patterned papers from the Emma's Shoppe line by Crate Paper.  I cut the layers with a Tim Holtz Postage Die Set.  I machine stitched my first layer.  All the ephemera and stickers are also from this Crate Paper line.  The darling ice cream cones and sentiments are from an older Stampin' Up stamp set called Sweet Ice Cream.

I stamped the scoops of ice cream and raised them with White 3-D Foam Tabs for dimension.  I tucked in a ticket (a super old stash item) that I stamped with another sentiment from the Sweet Ice Cream Stamp Set.  A Tim Holtz miniature paper clip was the finishing touch.  I just LOVE all the sweet layers of paper and yummy colors.  Almost cute enough to eat.  lol

Summer Challenge at The Four Seasons

Summer is already upon us, and that means it's time for a FUN Summer themed challenge over at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog.  We sure do hope that you will join us this month by sharing all your Summer themed cards and projects with us.  When I saw the awesome inspiration photo, I was immediately inspired by the lower left image (those yummy popsicles).  I have a Stampin' Up popsicle stamp set that I've been itching to use, and this was the perfect opportunity to pull it out and get creative for this FUN Summer Challenge.

I used some JilliBean Soup patterned paper, kraft cardstock, vellum and white cardstock to create this card.  I did some machine stitching (or so I thought....lol) until I realized that I had run out of thread in the machine.  I used a V-shaped border die cut from Sunny Studios to create the little purple apron that hangs down.  The popsicle sticks are stamped on and cut from cork paper.

There are several darling sentiments in this sweet Stampin' Up stamp set as well as these delicious popsicles, a cute ice cream cone, sprinkles and lots of fun little bits.  I used several colors of Tim Holtz Oxide Inks: Spun Sugar, Kitsch, Milled Lavendar, Concord Grape, and Picked Raspberries.  The little sentiment square was cut using the Crimped Edges Dies from The Greetery.
