Hello everyone! Well, as most of you who know me are aware, I'm NOT a "Halloween person". In fact, I find the whole thing rather creepy. I do, however, participate in Halloween to an extent. Here's why.....what other day of the year do I get 100+ kids and families stopping by my house when I have the opportunity to share the Gospel with them? So, what we always do at our house on Halloween is - we make up really nice treat bags filled with candy, a little toy and, most importantly, a Christian tract telling them that Jesus loves them, died for them, and cares about them (gives the salvation message). I make 100 bags each year and, when all 100 treat bags are gone, I turn off the porch light and call it a night. I am able to give 100+ kids/families the opportunity to get saved. While the kids are probably more excited about the candy, I pray that someone will be blessed by the Good News tucked inside the treat bags! I also stamp the back of the tracts with our church information, and we have had some families come to our church through this process, and we have seen people get saved. So, I know it's working.
With all that said.....I'm here today to share with you all the new October Challenge at V's Sweet Ideas Challenge Blog. It's a Halloween themed challenge, but you can also share your "Harvest" themed cards in this challenge during the Month of October. V's Sweet Ideas has a "Sweet Shop" just filled with all kinds of creative supplies for scrapbooking and card-making crafters. You will be SO delighted to see all the wonderful new items in the shop. I invite you all to stop by V's Sweet Ideas to check out all the wonderful crafty items, treat yourself to something new, and then come by and play along with us in this month's challenge.

For this card, I used several trims from V's Sweet Shoppe including the bow made from Black Crinkle Ribbon, Bittersweet (Orange) Ribbon, the small length of black lace trim, and the Baker's Twine in Mandarin Orange and Cappuccino that are tied into the button. It's on a cream card base, and the patterned papers, as well as the image, are from Melissa Frances. There's a (half) vintage cream doily as well as a small black die-cut doily from Papertrey Ink, a cream Jenni Bowlin button, a chandelier rub-on from Michael's dollar bin, a "Too Cute to Spook" sticker from Melisssa Frances, and of course machine stitching. I also need to mention that my card was inspired by a card that Beatriz Jennings of Iralamija Blog shared a few weeks ago in the Two Peas In A Bucket gallery. There's lots of inspiration at her sweet blog as well as in the Two Peas' gallery.
I'm sharing this card in the following:
My Craft Spot by Kimberly - Challenge #113 - Sketch Challenge
Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog - Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes
Frosted Designs - Add Texture - I always use lots of lumpy, bumpy, and otherwise texturized items on my art. It makes them expensive to mail, but gives them so much dimension and personality. Love it!
Created With Love Challenge Blog - Challenge #60 - Halloween
The Ribbon Carousel - Challenge #86 - Halloween - I used lots of spooled items - jute, baker's twine, ribbons, seam binding, lace.

ReplyDeleteYour design process as always is so gorgeous on this beautiful card!!
HI Karen - Love the story - and the last couple of years that is what Hubby and I have done for our kids in the neighborhood - we gave out water bottle and I attached a tag - Jesus Loves You - We will pray for you just stop by and then of course added a candy bar to each bag as well - I love giving out the mini water bottles with a message on it - SEED is planted and it is something kids will always remember - including their parents - we used to have a grand carnival type gathering at our church on Halloween but they stopped - so now after 20 years of living here we are handing out candy - and yes, when it is gone - off goes the light! Love your card!
