Creative Ways To Use Snippets

Welcome back to my blog, friends!  And if you've never stopped by before, please know that I'm really glad you're here.  If you're not already following me, I would be SO super grateful to have you become a new Follower, and I'd be more than happy to stop by your blog to follow you in return.  Just leave me a comment letting me know.  I'm hoping to reach 1,000 Followers in 2020; and I plan to have a BIG celebratory give-away when (and if) it finally happens.
Today I'm sharing a couple of cards using some of my patterned paper snippets in creative ways.  I hope that my ideas will inspire you to start saving and using your snippets.  Most especially when I use a paper line that I adore, I just can't bring myself to just throw away all those sweet little paper scraps.   That's why I hold onto them, and every now and then I decide to pull them out and find new ways to utilize them.  I've been doing this for years (as some of you know).  So....you can imagine my absolute DELIGHT when I found the challenge over at Pixie's Snippets Playground.
I started playing along, and much to my excitement; I was invited by the blog's owner, Diane Wray, to join her this month as her Guest Designer.  I really hope that my ideas are helpful to you, and....I really hope that you'll stop by to play along in her fun challenges.  I mean, come on!!!  We ALL have piles of snippets that we need to use up, so let's get creative with them, make something fun, and link it up over at the Snippets Playground!
For this card; I used a red cardstock base, a piece of white cardstock, and this handful of patterned paper snippets from a sweet Christmas line called Christmas Delivery by Carta Bella.  If you've got a handful of snippets, you can use this idea to make a similar card.  Just use what you have.  This card would totally work with ANY snippets.  I ran the white cardstock through my Big Shot with a Swiss Dots Embossing Folder to give it some texture.  Next, I cut the snippets into banners of various lengths and placed them on my card.
I stamped the sentiment and attached it to my card.  This is a very simple card, but it's a great way to make a flat, mailable card.  Quick and easy to say the least, which is exactly what we all need when making our Christmas cards.  Then, since I had even more left-over snippets when my card was finished, I decided to also make a coordinating tag to help use up those sweet snippets.  I used all the same papers as on my card, and placed more of the snippet flags/banners on my tag.  This tag was inspired by Jane Taylor's Tag on Day 4 for Uniko.
I loved her Christmas plaid patterned papers and her sweet touches, and that's what inspired me.I really hope that this was a helpful idea for you, and I really hope you'll make something with your snippets, and come play along with us at Pixie's Snippets Playground.
There's one prize for the Snippets Challenge on Diane's Blog, and in addition to her fabulous prize, I'm offering this prize package of stamps and goodies to a second lucky winner.  Be sure to stop by The Snippets Playground to read all the details and to link up your snippets entry.

Blessings,
Karen
25 Days Of Christmas Tags Event - As mentioned above, this tag was inspired by the tag shared on Day 4 by Jane Taylor for Uniko.  Her fabulous Christmas plaid paper and sweet touches on her traditional colored Christmas tag gave me so much inspiration.

Pixie's Crafty Workshop: Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #365 - Use Snippets, and since my card has already been shared, I'm linking up my snippets tag in this challenge.

  7. Hi Karen! Your card is wonderful, as I already squealed on a few occasions :) Don't see your tag linked as yet although it's probably way too early over the Pond. You're a popular GD I see from comments left on the Playground - and well deserved!

  18. So, I first saw your card over at the Snippets Playground. I must have missed it in my reader as I got pretty busy for several days and couldn’t read every post. I was excited to see you as a guest designer over there. I have played in the snippets challenge for a long time. This is a fabulous card, and I am so tempted to search out this paper pad to find it. Such great patterns!

  24. A super way of using up your snippets. My snippets cup overfloweth. I cannot bear to throw even the tiniest bits of paper away. I have been known to ask at craft show demos if I can have the waste from die cuts! . (Just ask Di). Just been to a John Lockwood workshop and didn’t bin anything. Bought it all home and have been playing with the off cuts all weekend. Will follow you but I won’t show up as me as blogger puts me in incognito fir some reason. Hugs Mrs A. ValeryAnnedesigins.

    1. I know this so well Mrs A! In between pulling soap dispensers off walls and almost dismantling displays we were a pair who really shouldn't have been let out together! x
