A Bit O' The Green

Welcome by to all my Irish friends, and my not-so-Irish friends (like me) perhaps just wanting to play along in some of the fun challenges out there in blog land as St. Patrick's Day approaches.  It seems to be a common theme, so I had to dig deep for the supplies to put something together.  Here's what I came up with to share with you for my Bit O' Green project.
I used a (really) deep green base and attached a green print ephemera post card, a St. Patrick's Day ephemera print, an ephemera ticket stub, some various use of canvas scraps....some of which I used as a base by giving it a stenciled background using green paint mixed with Gesso and topped with a few prills as well as some fun inks.  I added a small flower cluster with Pale Yellow Miniature Sweetheart Blossoms, Black Burlap String, Olive Burlap String and a stick pin.

For those of you who know me best, you're aware that it's not very often that things are just left simple with me.  Even, as I've admitted, a card looks good without all the "extras", I can so rarely resist the temptation to add some bundled twines, flowers, and embellishments of all sorts.  I guess I'm extra.  Not very often do I accomplish CAS, and I certainly did not do so on this card.  I do love the textures that come with using fabric (canvases), paints, gesso, inks, and other fun products that give my projects more layers.  The sentiment card is an old Crafty Secrets ephemera from my stash, as are most all the other little bits I used.
I found the fun silver heart ribbon slide in my metal stash bin, and chose to run a scrap of inked canvas through the slide rather than to add a softer ribbon or trim.  I just tore a strip in the correct width, and I inked it up before running it through the silver heart ribbon slide.  I used silver because of the silver stick pin I'd already used.  Oh, and some fun green miniature staples (they're hard to see as well, but they're on the ticket stub that's tucked under the focal image (left).
Well, I sure do thank you for stopping by today.  I've really been trying to get around to more blogs lately,  If  I've happened to miss yours, please leave me a note and let me know.  I usually visit other first by those who visit me/comment, and then by those who play along at WAW, or those who just inspire me I guess.  I know I don't get around to nearly even half the blogs I wish I had the time to visit.  Thanks again for visiting me, friend.

Hugs,
Karen

These are the FUN challenges where I am playing along this week:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Something Feminine - I tend to make most all of my cards on the feminine side.  This one is no exception with its flowers, ribbons, etc.  It's going to my dear Irish Mother-in-Law, Sharlene.

Dar & Diane's Double D Challenge Blog - It's All About The Green/St. Patrick's Day
Just look at this FUN inspiration board.  I just had to create something to play along.

  1. Karen this is beautiful. Just love all those little beads. The vintage looks is so awesome. Karen you make such wonderful cards and I am sorry that I don't visit your site as much as I should. I see them and think that they are gorgeous, but have such limited time. Working full time just is a pain in the butt with my true love of crafting, lol. If I could just make enough by crafting to pay for health care benefits....I would do it. However, since my husband passed away I have to support myself and the cat. Just wish that she cleaned. haha I know now I am sounding delusional. But I am just waiting for that fairytale where the animals do the cleaning that's my favorite.

  4. This is really cute. You always have the best ephemera and know exactly what to do with it. If I had any all I could do is stare at it.
