It's time for a FUN new Winter challenge over at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog. The theme changes each month to coincide with the weather (well, that is...whatever the weather may be in the US on any given month) so you're always able to find the perfect challenge where you can enter your seasonal cards all year around. And, by the way, we sure do enjoy having y'all stop by and play along with us at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog. I sure had fun making my card for this challenge. Here's the inspiration photo. Any guesses as to what caught my eye?I was really inspired by the red bird, the greenery, and all the snow in the photo above. I recently got a fabulous new (bird) God Will Take Care of You Stamp Set from Stamp Simply Clear Stamps that I've been wanting to use; and this was my perfect opportunity. I used some cardstocks, and then I rubbed a background of Tim Holtz Oxide Ink and stamped the musical notes in Hickory Smoke Oxide Ink. I also stamped a wooden log using a Wood Background Stamp from SNSS, and topped that with a piece of corrugated cardboard and wrapped some Cherry Baker's Twine around my card.
The card still looked a little bit bare to me in the area where I'd laid the corrugated cardboard, so I added some "snow" which is just crumbled styrofoam mixed with some chunky white glitter. I also added some grey paint drops here and there. The bird, music notes and branches with berries are from the God Will Take Care of You Stamp Set from Stamp Simply Clear Stamps. Please let me know if you have any questions about what I've used here. I do realize that I (almost always) have a lot going on.
I do enjoy combining different elements, colors and textures from a good inspiration photo, and this photo gives you SO many great directions to take your card or project. Let the photo speak to you in any way that inspires you and gets you creating - it doesn't have to be literal. It could simply be a color scheme or a memory that inspires you. We can't wait to see what you'll create and share with us.
We do hope that you'll stop by The Four Seasons Challenge and enter your Christmas and Winter cards/projects with us. It's always more fun when everyone can share their art and bless others with their creativity. I really look forward to seeing YOU and your inspired creations linked up over at The Four Seasons Challenge. Happy crafting, everyone.
Blessings,
Karen

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful my friend! I love everything about your card from the beautiful cardinal to the corrugated cardboard piece you used. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful your card is, Karen! Even though you said the wood is a background stamp I'm still enlarging the close up and thinking how real it looks, perhaps more like a die cut. Brilliant how you did the snow. I just love this all over!
ReplyDeleteGreat card! That corrugated cardboard is such a unique touch. Thanks for joining us at Little Red Wagon.
