New October Challenge at The Four Seasons

Welcome by my blog today, friends!  It's always a treat to have you visit me here. It seems that blogging is quickly become "old school", and that more and more people are heading over to Instagram instead.  I actually enjoy blogging.  It's fun to talk about our art, share ideas, and to get a peek into one another's lives. Thank you so much for visits here.  They really do mean a whole lot to me.  By the way, this will be my last post as part of the Design Team at The Four Seasons. I've stepped down after four years on the team. I was part of the original Design Team. Now it's time for me to move on to new things.

There's a FUN new challenge starting today over at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog.  We're all sharing cards that speak of Autumn.  You can create and share ANY type of art in our challenges.  Maybe the Autumn colors speak to your creativity, perhaps it's the leaves, pumpkins or some other detail that says Autumn to you.  No matter what inspires you, we're always grateful and excited to have you come by and play along with us.

To create this card, I used some old patterned papers from my stash including some Crate Paper (Farmhouse) and some Carta Bella (Spring Market).  The sweet Fringe Pumpkins Dies are from Pretty Pink Posh.  I splattered each layer with acrylic paints (the green Distress Spray bled...oops).  It's a hot mess, I know.  But I wasn't about to start over from the beginning, so it's a mess.  I can live with that. lol

The THANKFUL sentiment stamp is from Stamp Simply and is found in their sweet Boho Fall Leaves Stamp Set.  The sentiment was cut using a Fishtail Banner Die.  I use this die set A LOT for sentiments.  It's super versatile and get a lot of use, believe me.  I used the Boho Pumpkin Dies from Stamp Simply to add the pumpkin vines.  They were cut from a scrap of the green plaid background paper.

Thanks - The Four Seasons Challenge

It's the first of a new month and time for a FUN new challenge at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog.  This month we turn our attention to Autumn and the colors, images and feelings associated with the Fall season.  I was running late with my cad this month, but I knew that Creative Worship Stamps had all the right stamps and products to help me create a fabulous Autumn card.  I just loved all the wonderful colors and images found in this month's beautiful inspiration photo.

I used a deep red cardstock for my base and layered it with a piece of light cream cardstock that I cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I used a smaller rectangle in the Stitched Rectangle Dies to stamp my sentiment and the Typewriter Text underneath it.  One of my favorite background stamps is the Typewriter Text Background Stamp.  I stamped my entire cream card base using this fabulous stamp.  I also used the Going Postal Stamp Set on the background.  You may even see some of the words from the Typewriter Text Background Stamp stamped on the pretty leaves.  I LOVE this stamp!!

The beautiful leaves, foliage and darling sentiment are all found in the awesome Give Thanks Stamp Set.  I can't wait to use ALL the sentiments in the amazing set.  For this card, I used just the word THANKS; but there's so much more to this set.  Each of the leaves were stamped, hand cut, and hand painted using Tim Holtz Inks.  I splattered all the images with white paint.  By the way.....the font in this Give Thanks Stamp Set is SO cool.

Wishing You Sunny Days

It's August, and time for another FUN challenge over at The Four Seasons.   We have another beautiful inspiration photo to help spark your creativity, but you're not required to apply it literally.  It's simply a starting point for your Summer themed cards and projects throughout the month of August.  Summer is coming to a close, but there's certainly time for another glass (or two) of lemonade.  We hope you'll grab a cold drink and come play along.

I used basic cream cardstock (from WalMart) for my base and to cut all the lemons/fruit.  The sliced fruit is from the Dried Citrus Slices from The Greetery, and the lemons and leaves are Zesty Lemon Dies from Lawn Fawn.  The sentiment I used is from the Typewritten Sentiments Year Round Greetings Stamp Set from Stamp Simply.

All the patterned papers I used are random.  They were scraps that I found in one of my paper bins, and they are each from different company's lines.  I also cut some paper scraps with Postage Stamp Dies.  A few little sequins were the finishing touch.  You can see how I was inspired by the lovely inspiration photo.  My eyes were immediately drawn to the upper left photo of the pitcher full of fruity goodness.

June Challenge at The Four Seasons

It's time for the June Challenge at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog and we really hope you'll join us again this month.  We have an awesome inspiration photo to help you get your creativity kick-started in the right direction.  Maybe some of the colors speak to you, or maybe it's an image or a texture.  Whatever you see that inspires your creativity, we look forward to seeing the art you create when you see it.  This is how I was inspired this month.  All the products used to make this card are from Creative Worship Stamps.

I used a bright cardstock base that I cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies from Creative Worship Stamps.  I used their Sketched Roses Stamp Set to stamp all the pretty roses and foliage that I placed around on my card.  The white piece underneath that was also cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I ink smooshed that white watercolor paper background and stamped it with Texture Tiles 1 Stamp Set for the music notes.

So, when I looked at the inspiration board (above), you can tell right away that I didn't take anything literally.   Meaning...I didn't necessary recreate the same images as seen in the photo.  What did inspire me, however, were the flowers (which are purple lilacs in the inspiration photo).  This gave me the desire to create with flowers.  The bright colors on the surf boards speak to my bright color choices.  What's speaking to you and to your creative side?  We can't wait to see.

The sentiment I added (bloom in faith) is also found in the Sketched Roses Stamp Set.  There are always cute sentiments in the stamp sets from Creative Worship; even the smaller sets.  I always love that.  I hope you check out both of these awesome places I've mentioned.  Creative Worship Stamps for some great shopping, and The Four Seasons Challenge Blog for a place to share your art and creativity.  We look forward to it.

May Challenge at The Four Seasons

It's time for the fun new May Challenge at The Four Seasons, and we really hope that you'll be inspired to come play along with us again this month.  I was so inspired by the beautiful flowers in the photo and that was where I started my creative thought process.  I gathered up some supplies and got started with my pretty floral card.  The colors, flowers and greenery spoke to my creativity this time.

I started with a basic cream cardstock that I layered with a very old patterned paper from my stash.  I'll guess this paper is well over 10-15 years old.  I think it's made by My Mind's Eye.  The floral print is on one side, and the pink gingham is on the other.  I created my card base from these papers and used Scor-Tape to secure everything.  The little cross-stitch piece (circle) was left over and still sitting on my craft table from another project I'd just finished.  I chose to incorporate it by stitching a small pink flower on it.  This die-cut set is from The Greetery and they are called Hoopla Dies.

Next, I added a Green Mulberry Leaf, some Solid Pink Baker's Twine and a sentiment strip.  The strip itself was cut using the Fishtail Banner Dies, and it was stamped with a sentiment from Stamp Simply.   The stamping on the pink gingham paper uses the Going Postal Stamp Set from Creative Worship (the cancelled stamp and the 25 cents).  I also added a Tim Holtz Miniature Rusty Paper Clip and some vintage scotch tape.

Another important thing to remember is that the inspiration photo is just a suggestion.  It's a place to start but doesn't have to be taken literally.  Meaning that you don't necessarily have to use flowers on your cards.  Maybe the colors inspire you, maybe the textures, the raindrops or the greenery, etc.  Whatever you create to share with us this month at The Four Seasons simply needs to be a Spring project.  That duck is adorable!  That might inspire you.

Winter Fun at The Four Seasons Challenge

It's time for the February Challenge at The Four Seasons, and this is our last Winter challenge of the year.  There's a beautiful inspiration photo, but you don't have to follow it literally.  It's just a starting point for your creativity.  Perhaps the colors speak to you, or maybe an image in the collage.  Whatever says Winter to you is a great place to start.  Just let your creativity run wild with the theme of Winter and come link up with us at The Four Seasons.

I used a black cardstock base layered with various patterned paper scraps.  I used the Scallop Border Die from Creative Worship for the plaid border at the top.  The bottom portion was stamped using the Texture Tiles 9 Stamp Set which is also from Creative Worship.  The two coffee cups are stickers.  The stamped sentiment is from the Coffee Talk Stamp Set from Creative Worship Stamps.

I tied some Solid Black Baker's Twine around my card to add some texture.  I love the addition of ribbons and twines, and I can always find the perfect trims at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  This is really a simple card.  You can share any type of Winter themed card or project in this fun challenge.  We just love and appreciate having you play along.

Don't you just LOVE these sweet stamps?  Yes!  Creative Worship has so many great coffee themed stamps, scripture stamps and all sorts of fabulous products.  Just take a peek at the inspiration photo, grab your crafting supplies, make something to share with us, and come play along.  It's also an opportunity to use up scraps of patterned paper and other left-over goodies, just like I did.

Winter Challenge at The Four Seasons

Hello, sweet blog friends!  It's time for the January Winter Challenge at The Four Seasons and we hope that you'll come by and share your Winter cards with us.  The awesome inspiration photo gives you several ideas, but this is just a helpful tool to get you started.  You can share any Winter card in this challenge.  What says Winter to you?  We can't wait to see.  I was inspired by the wildlife in the photo.  See that cute little fox down in the bottom left corner of the inspiration photo?  SO cute.

I used basic black cardstock layered with a wood grain patterned paper from the Craft Consortium.  The pretty Winter sentiment is from Bonnie Garby Designs and can be found in the lovely Winter Sentiments Digital Stamp Set.  I cut it using Postage Dies and I cut a smaller one onto which I stencilled a snowflake using Luxe Glaze.  I added a few little pearl stickers as accents.

The darling little fox was cut from wool felt using the Spellbinders Forest Fox Stitching Dies.  I hand stitched the pieces of wool felt using DMC floss and glued together all the pieces.  It came together quite easily and was a lot of fun to make.  I do enjoy stitching.  What does this inspiration photo inspire in you?

Christmas Inspirations at The Four Seasons

It's time for the December Challenge at The Four Seasons, and this month we're ready to celebrate Christmas and we've got lots of great inspiration to get your creativity started.  There's a gorgeous inspiration photo in addition to the beautiful cards shared by our talented Design Team.  The card I created to inspire you all was SO much fun to make as we all start thinking about Christmas.

I used basic white cardstock to stamp everything.  I used stamps from The Greetery including the Ornament Box Top Vertical Rubber Stamp for the frame.  I don't actually own this stamp, so I borrowed it from my BFF, Patti Lyn.  We've been friends for over 55 years now.  She mailed it to me to borrow, and I don't want to return it....LOL.  It's SO cute.  I used the adorable Curio: Attic Ornaments Die and the Pine Dies for the foliage.

SO cute, right?  I also added lengths of Really Reasonable Ribbon trims to my ornaments including a piece of Iridescent String, Solid Hot Pink Baker's Twine and Cotton Candy Baker's Twine.  How sweet is this?  I could play with these stamps and dies all day long and never tire of them.  They're just so cute.

Ready for Autumn at The Four Seasons

Are you ready for Autumn?  YES for me.  I'm excited for cooler temperatures and being able to wear all my cute sweaters, scarves, boots and jackets.  And...I'm just excited to not be overheating like an old radiator every day.  LOL  Well, ready or not; Autumn is upon us and it's time for our first Autumn challenge of the year at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog.  We sure do hope you'll come join the fun.

This card uses blue and black cardstock and a patterned paper from JilliBean Soup.  The top layer is a piece of simple white cardstock that I sprayed with Tattered Angels spray and Tim Holtz Walnut Ink.  I stamped all those cute words on my background using the adorable Blessed Stamp Set.  The truck is from Paper Sweeties Merry Christmas Y'all Stamp Set and was cut using the coordinating Merry Christmas Y'all Dies.

The pumpkins are from their Truck Add-On Stamp Set and cut with the Truck Add-On Dies.  The little corn husks are from a Lawn Fawn stamp set.  That's pretty much it for my supply list....with the exception of a couple little sequins.  Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.  Oh, the little pumpkin sprinkles are from Twiddler's Nook.

September Challenge at The Four Seasons

Another FUN challenge is starting over at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog and we hope that you'll join us for this year's first Fall themed challenge.  There's a gorgeous inspiration photo, lots of great inspirational art from the Design Team, and lots of great ideas to get your Autumn creativity going if it's not already there.  Just the deep rich colors of Autumn are always enough to draw me in to a good challenge.

This is my inspiration card for this challenge, and I hope it helps you remember to keep it simple.  I incorporated Autumn colors by using some amazing Tim Holtz Leaf Fragments Dies.  White and green cardstocks make my layered base.  I painted the white watercolor paper with oxide inks to give color to my background, and I also painted scraps of the paper to match my card and then I cut the leaves using Tim Holtz Leaf Fragments Thinlits Dies available at Stamp Simply.

The stamped sentiment is also from Stamp Simply and can be found in their Falling Leaves Stamp Set.  It stands out so nicely on the yellowish background surrounded by the pretty Autumn leaves.  The card is quite simple, yet it says Autumn in a BIG way.  We hope you're inspired to create some Fall themed cards to share with us over at The Four Seasons Challenge.  See you there.

Honeycomb Balloons Birthday Card

Well, I don't know about you; but I absolutely fell in LOVE when I saw the fairly recent release called Honeycomb Basics from The Greetery.  They keep coming out with the most irresistible products, and I can't find the strength to say no.  Just look at how sweet these Honeycomb Balls are.  I can't get enough of them.  The left side of the circle has a small adhesive heart.  You peel the adhesive backing from that little white heart, and you simply open the Honeycomb Ball to reveal the sweet ball.  So....the little honeycomb balls will appear once the recipient peels the tab and sticks the other side to the sticky tab (heart) that was cut from Adhesive Foam.  How clever, right?  That's what holds the honeycomb ball on the other side and creates the balloon.  Adorable!  This clever die-cut set and coordinating stamp set can be found at The Greetery.  All the patterned papers, ephemera, and stickers I used are from Crate Paper.

Above (and again below) you will see the card and matching tag.  I made the tag so that you could see how CUTE these Honeycomb Balls are when opened.  I used a teal one on the teal balloon, and a soft pastel pink on the pink one on the card.  The bright pink one was used for the tag, and this is one that you see in its open position.  You can find Honeycomb Balls in every color and size.  Aren't they FUN?  I couldn't help myself.....I ordered the rest of these fabulous die-cuts including the party hat, the flower and the ice cream cone; so I'll be making lots of these fun cards.

The Honeycomb Basics Stamp Set contains all the cute sentiments you see on the balloons (in their closed position).  There are cute little arrows and signs to tell you where to open the Honeycomb Balls.  You can also use these cute Honeycomb Balls to make flowers, ice cream cones and suns (among other things).  SO cute.  The stamped Happy Birthday sentiment I used is from Paper Sweeties.

New Summer Challenge at The Four Seasons

Nobody needs to remind me that it's Summer.  Yikes!  We live in Las Vegas, Nevada where the Summer temps are, and have been, in the 100s for several months now.  We've been running the A/C round the clock and I run errands only when I must.  It's just too stinking hot out there for me.  I hope you're staying cool, chilling by the pool, sipping a cold beverage, and of course, finding lots of time to spend in your craft room.  I sure do PRAISE GOD for air conditioning.

My inspiration card for this fun new Summer challenge at The Four Seasons was prompted by the inspiration photo (below).  I, like some of you, wasn't sure what to use on my card because I don't necessarily have those exact items.  That's quite alright.  You don't have to use the photo literally.  It's simply a starting point.  The main thing to which I was drawn is the color pink.  Since I didn't have exactly what I wanted, I used what I have to make it work.

I recently won a challenge and received a gift card to spend at Waffle Flower.  I chose a lovely oval stitching die that I used on this card.  I took a piece of light kraft cardstock and used it for the base, and also used it to cut the oval.  I found the (free) cross stitch pattern on Pinterest for the cute little flamingo.  Once the flamingo was stitched, I attached it to a piece of white cardstock just for backing.  I attached that to a piece of hot pink gingham patterned paper.

The stamped sentiment is from Paper Sweeties.  My finishing touches were some Green Wrinkle Ribbon, Hot Pink Baker's Twine and a few sequins for sparkle.  Like I mentioned above, you can use whatever you've got on hand and simply let the inspiration photo be a starting point.  Maybe it's just the colors that inspire you, but really any Summer cards and projects can be linked to this FUN challenge at The Four Seasons.  We look forward to seeing what you'll create to share with us this month.  Happy crafting, and thanks SO much for stopping by today.

Summer Challenge at The Four Seasons

Summer is already upon us, and that means it's time for a FUN Summer themed challenge over at The Four Seasons Challenge Blog.  We sure do hope that you will join us this month by sharing all your Summer themed cards and projects with us.  When I saw the awesome inspiration photo, I was immediately inspired by the lower left image (those yummy popsicles).  I have a Stampin' Up popsicle stamp set that I've been itching to use, and this was the perfect opportunity to pull it out and get creative for this FUN Summer Challenge.

I used some JilliBean Soup patterned paper, kraft cardstock, vellum and white cardstock to create this card.  I did some machine stitching (or so I thought....lol) until I realized that I had run out of thread in the machine.  I used a V-shaped border die cut from Sunny Studios to create the little purple apron that hangs down.  The popsicle sticks are stamped on and cut from cork paper.

There are several darling sentiments in this sweet Stampin' Up stamp set as well as these delicious popsicles, a cute ice cream cone, sprinkles and lots of fun little bits.  I used several colors of Tim Holtz Oxide Inks: Spun Sugar, Kitsch, Milled Lavendar, Concord Grape, and Picked Raspberries.  The little sentiment square was cut using the Crimped Edges Dies from The Greetery.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Anything Goes"

Seize the Birthday Challenge Blog - Challenge #284 - Anything Goes (Optional: Use Metallics) I chose the Anything Goes option this time.  Although, I did quite by accident, happen to add a Tim Holtz miniature rusty paperclip.  So, I do have just a wee touch of metal.
